People said last year that Agar had to make the top 8 or better still top 6 for Agar to keep his job and he did. So lets see how he goes this year before we crucify him. I think we need a new coach to take us to the next level but Agar earnt his shot for this season by how we did last time.

The 'Season of Promise' was supposed to be about having a much better year than the previous two and the team promising to reward the fans for their support. It was never about promising to win trophies in the sense that you seem to have taken it.

Fair enough, but I'm confident enough to say it's a fact that the majority of fans would sack Rich Agar if the decision was theirs, I'd put my house on it infact.

Obviously I can only base that on what I've read on here and my mates that support FC, but I haven't met one person who thinks he's the best man for the job, that's not to say there aren't plenty that will back him while he's there.

The thing is, if pass sales fall because people don't like the rugby or because they specifically want Agar replaced then either way it sends a message to the board about the fans' opinion on the coach. We could argue all day about whether that's a good thing or not obviously, but that's what would have happened...

You might be right, but in fact I wouldn't be surprised if you were wrong. Any large group of people has a fair amount of emotional inertia, and last season did in fact deliver a significant improvement over the previous two. You might find that the majority are willing to see how he goes in 2011 before breaking out the gallows and rope.

I certainly think that 2011 is make or break for him though. His remaining credit won't stretch any further.


I wouldn't put too much weight on what you read on here. Internet forums are notoriously unrepresentative of the views of the general public. They tend to be populated by folk with fiercely held views and the desire to express them as widely as possible.

Actually, he's right. We finished 7th overall following the playoff games.

The other clubs you mention may not have had SOP but they will have used something similar. Any club marketing department who doesn't try and whip up enthusiasm for the season ahead should be sacked on the spot.

And if anyone really felt sufficiently let down by the difference between the SOP marketing campaign and real life that they 'lost interest' then they should probably go find another hobby.

Sorry but it's just your constant over-simplifying and exaggeration. Of course nobody wants the club to be bankrupted or thinks Agar tells the players to play rubbish! it's a stupid level to bring a debate down to.

Re what I want from Agar I want him to show some sign of ability to produce a successful, entertaining team and he hasn't been able to do that. You can count on one hand in 2 1/2 years the number of times that his teams have given performances that are more than the sum of their parts.

I take all of that on board but I just think if there was a majority of fans that firmly believed Agar was the right man for the job I'd have met at least one of them in all the games I've been to.

Can you forward me those please? A mate of mine told me he got one from the RFL saying we were paid prize money for finishing 7th.

And I had an email a few years ago from the RFL and SL that says the opposite. As did many others.
