Yup, mainly due to his size and strength. He also has the better defensive ability due to his size and regularly contributes to 2 man tackles where Dowes needs a 3rd man to finish it off. Cusack every time for me.

He does have a contract, but he has had 1 good game in 2 or 3 seasons and should be allowed to leave by choice or by force.

Ive said for a while now that i would use Lee and Houghton as hookers for next year with Berro either in the right centre or gone.

Have to say I cant agree with Gekko about Dowes having a quick PTB at all. Having said that I would rather have Dowes than Cusack simply on the quota side of things, though I can see the reasons behind the club re-signing him.

the way lee is playing i would say he is better then houghton and i dont think you would have berro at centre because craig hall has been playing well since he came back from widnes and berro i think is a lazy player but good i think we need to keep berro because hes the only one that really creates anything at the club. He also put tickle i would say tickle is 1 of the best if not the best player at the club atm

Would throw Cordoba into that as well....he is always looking for a quick ptb.

Neither players would even get on the Huddersfield bench. Not worth arguing about either of them.

Stand off for me.....2 halfs with a kicking game and Berro would compliment Long.

Just had a look a Thackray's stats on the SL site - not too bad. I know they don't tell the whole story, but even so.

The only part of Houghtons game that is better than Lee in the hooking role is his skoot from the PTB IMO.

Why are people finding the concept of this thread so hard to understand?

And anyway, for me if Agar really wants to stamp his authority with this clearout then he needs to do more than just release players who's contracts are up. Obviously it would be best if we could get other clubs to take them off our hands as we can't waste too much much money paying people off, but making an example of Paul King would be a great way to start.

I just checked that out, surprisingly low amount of errors and conceded penalties in comparison to other props that have played a similar amount of games.

in my opinion we could use houghton as starting hooker next year if we saw fit, allowing us to use berrigan maybe at 7 if long gets injured or even at centre......
during the derby match berrigan showed his outside back class when he breezed past clint newton only for newton to ankle tap him and stopping a certain try...
regards tickle, my views are that his defence is subject at best, he misses to many tackles for me, ones in which he should make, i also find his positional play in the defensive line leaves alot to be desired aswell, but with ball in hand he's one of our better go-forward second rowers in my opinion

i couldnt beleive my eyes at caravan park on sunday for the reserves match when the team sheet declared NATHAN FREER at number 8!! how long has he been at the club and done simply nothing in the first team....GET RID...

its only my opinion everyone is entitled to one and also all the players must be good or they wouldnt make it at that level
