I think you are right in that Cordoba showed effort and aggression in a very poor Hull season. That is maybe why he is thought of so well. If I were critical I would have to say he made far too many handling errors to be kept on as a non fed trained player.

I don't think either of Cusack or Cordoba warrant a quota spot but if I had to chose I'd go for Cordoba.

IMO it was a bad decision to renew Cusack's contract and if it costs us big Sam for the seasons to come, then it will prove to be a terrible decision. However, I do rate him as a decent prop if not anything spectacular.

I think that he is a better prop than both Dowes and Cordoba but he just isn't worth a quota spot when we could have made an effort to sign a half decent British prop to do the same job, probably on similar money.

Dowes, for me, must be playing his last season in the B&W unless he somehow has a blinder of a season which is very unlikely.

Cusack is twice the player Cordoba is. I would say that Dowes is aswell when he is on his game but the coaching staff need to spend this off-season finding out what they need to do to get him back to his best.
I still maintain that back in 2005/2006 when Thackery, King and Carvell were regularly picked in Britain squads, Dowes was still your best prop. I wonder wether that had a mental affect on him because he hasnt been the same since.

TBF to Hull werent we one of the clubs who enquired about Andy Lynch at Bradford who was out of contract? I dont think there is many quality British props available at the mo.

I think that most fans would have taken Lynch in a heartbeat. Would he really have cost anymore than we're paying Cusack ? Probably not.

A good British prop like Lynch would have given us the opportunity to sign big Sam and this elusive Aussie outside back / stand off.

Possibly. As the quota comes down British players (particularly decent ones) are going to become more valuable to a club and hence their value will rise I'd have thought.

Lynch would have cost a damn sight more than Cusack, we have got Cusack on a song for next season.

If that's the case, then maybe he is good value for money but his quota status, form me, is the real sticking point.

I see your point about the quota spot but he is a top pro and he is at the right money. Plus it's only a one yeard deal which means we are then in line for next years quota without making further changes. We could have got for a better player but it would have cost more and that might have effected our ability to sign some of the players we have?

C'mon Cusack was our best forward by a mile until he got injuried.

i agree - cusack was playing v.well until injury. i don't rate cordoba that much at all. if he had a good game it's cos he wants a contract, and apparently daniel anderson wouldn't give him a game so he came to the UK

You may well be correct. Either that or other front rowers have progressed in that time and Dowes has stood still.

I didn't rate him in his first year but thought he played well this year before he was injured.

I think the pressure to deliver will be on Dowes next season after a poor season just gone.

We spent a season getting him fit ...............
