My heart says I would never support a merged team. My head says that I would after a certain amount of time as I love my rugby. That would be where the risk is in a potentially merged club here in Hull IMO. It will lose supporters in the short term but I think in the long term people would start to return. Whoever was in charge of the merged club would need to be patient and accept that attendances would be low to begin with whilst the initial anger and outrage died away that I think many fans of both FC and KR would be feeling.

This is all just a hypothetical scenario as far as I'm concerned but as things stand what is in it for Hull FC to merge with Hull KR? FC's finances seem to be in order so why would we risk losing our identity and merging with our nearest and dearest rivals?

Merger No. Hostile take over Yes. When Rovers where in the 1st division after our last "merger" crowds were up, Youth development was ours to monopolise we won the Challenge cup Grand Final the year after then bang The Mongols breach the Wall raping and pillaging as they go. Its been pretty much downhill since.

Rovers getting into SL was the worst thing that could of happended to Hull F C at that time.

No one will bother with a merged Club but there should only be one club from Hull in SL.

On a more serious note the game is on its Arse. Watching the game is all about plays and one big bloke tackling another big bloke on a drop off ball. Economics will eventually say that only 1 club will exist in Hull. This will be a merged club and will play more than likely at a well developed Craven Park. if you think this will not happen then i am afraid cloud cuckoo land beckons !!!!!

IF i had a pound for every time merger was mentioned i would be on my boat in cannes, never gonna happen end of, right am off to cloud cookoo land.

The current ground would have to be totally knocked down and rebuilt for that to happen. Removing all signs of Red n White and be totally decorated in the merged clubs colours.

Then, after a few years, i might consider going.

But seeing as most players for both clubs live West of the River Hull it makes sense to play in a stadium to the West.

No offence meant to any Rovers fans reading this but I think the KC would be the better option for capacity. I can't comment of the facilities as it's been a long time since I've been to Craven Park.

No offense taken by the comments but don't you think 25k would be too big? Especially as there wouldn't be a derby to get the sell out? When/If Craven Parks gets completed it would be around the 14/15k mark with standing and seating so would probably be an ideal size.

If Hull FC can't survive then nobody can. We are one of the biggest ( potentially biggest ) club in super league. We just need to start being successful and all this talk will go away

We've averaged around 14,000 for a season before.

If your going to merge 2 clubs the plan should be to get all the fans from both clubs to attend.

I think a merged club could realistically average 15,000+ providing they could regularly make the top 5.
Even higher once people got used to the idea. You will get people staying away for the first 2 seasons.
But they would soon drift back if a sniff of success was on the cards

Why all this talk about a merger, it's not going to happen.

That's correct it won't happen but it does make a change when both sets of fans can pretty much talk about it without it getting too silly.
One question I honestly don't know the answer to is would the rental agreement at the KC be void if the clubs merged? As it would probably be a different company?
