He's here for the convention, just had a op so can't go.
Its a shame he's not debating Wallace so Aus could see what a scum bag he is.

| Quote ="Rock God X"Again, I'd disagree. I think we look a better side when he's on the pitch. Some of his hits in defence alone have the capacity to lift the side and therefore influence the game. When he comes back for the last twenty, I think it gives us something extra.'"
Yeaman can lift the side with a big hit in defence. The biggest 2nd half influence on Friday was Seymour.
I certainly don't want to understate Rich's performances this season, he's been Excellent, but to say he's had an influence on the season is just wrong IMO. The 13 position has been handled excellently by Gentle, Aspinwall and Whiting have been on the pitch at the right time to suit the game at any particular phase.

I'm not talking about a single big hit, I'm talking about consistently having a positive impact in defence. That can be just as influencial as good attacking play - particularly in tight games like Bradford. I guess we'll never agree, but I do think his influence on the side is noticeable.

| I'd add that he's only played a few games there back to back and seems to be improving all the time. Imagine what he'll be like after a full season.

He's only doing 40 minutes a game. He'll be fine with the workload.

Well we will see, I suppose, I just don't see any reason to even suggest that the workload of playing 40 minutes a game is likely to take its toll on Whiting. He certainly hasn't looked like he's struggled with it.

I just said it might, not that it will. People are allowed to ask questions when it comes to Whiting you know, it's not a criticism.

I appreciate that, I just feel it would help if the questions were somehow relevant.

So moving into the pack on a permanent basis doesn't affect your workrate that [imight[/i tell as the season develops?
Nope not relevant at all.
Anyway......Whiting was great against Rovers and has been all season, I sincerely hope he keeps it up.

There's been no indication that the workload has been a problem from his performances. Sure, it [imight[/i become a problem one day in that anything that [ican[/i happen [imight[/i happen, but it doesn't seem any more likely than any other possibility, and less likely than most.

| I wouldnt say Whiting has been outstanding, he has just been Whiting his usual self. You could count hisporr games in his FC career on one hand and struggle to find 5
The way him and Aspinwall have played and shared that roll has allowed Ticks and Manu toplay the 80 more effectively imho.

| He is turning into an excellent back rower and we should sign him up now, he makes good yards and his defence is solid, he also does some great offloads.

| Washbrook looked the real deal when he first broke into the first team, in fact there were plenty on here (including me) saying that he'd be a future club captain.
Whether it was Agar who stifled his development or that he simply failed to lived up to the early hype, I don't know. When he was released at the end of last season it was the right decision. However if Whiting had been released it would have been a terrible decision. He is a real 100% player and never lets us down. Hopefully he'll be around long enough for his testimonial in a couple of years, which will be hugely deserved.

Dont know how to quote so I wont even try but it was Wednesday 6th January 2010 at 12:33!! You had decided he wouldn't get any game time last season, would be away at the end of it and pretty much wouldn't be missed. Not sure what made you change your mind but glad you did!!!!

He most certainly was, even started a thread stating he would have Washy over Whiting, absolute madness in my book.

| Have now read the rest of the thread, cant imagine him being compared to Jason Smith but also cant believe that it has taken people so long to realise what a quality player Rich is. From his first game in a Hull shirt all those years ago, as Hutchie says, I cant think of many bad halves let alone 5 bad games from him. Deserving of a testimonial next year and a player that will be extremely difficult to replace when he does call it a day.

| Just heard a little interview with him on Humberside, says he hopes to open talks with the club about a contract extension in the next few weeks but has not heard anything about any extension as yet. He very much wants to stay at the club.
Would be great to give him, Manu, Turner and Sharp 2 years.
