There was a story about this on the Wail's website earlier, that story has now gone AWOL

I can't get a copy of the paper, and it doesn't seem the article appears online.....?

While the £500 seems like a victory, as others have mentioned it sets a dangerous precedent. Once we have accepted the principle of a charge for displaying pictures/memorabilia then there is nothing to stop that charge being increased - or indeed other similar charges being levied.

Hopefully the club and the council are aware of this and will act accordingly.

Where has this £500 figure come from? How have they gotten to that value? What does it entail? (Is it just match days? Equal wall space? Number if photos, etc?)

I'd be very wary. To me it feels like they just want us to accept that the terms of the contract have changed by accepting a low figure. They can then charge us what the hell they like after a while.

Personally, I'd tell them to ram it. It shouldn't cost anything. We shouldn't leave ourselves open on this one.

We have a winner. Once a single penny changes hands it changes the legal position. On the twitter feed, Allam has posted its the principal that matters. Yet he fails to see it is him that has changed the original position. At the end of the day, he is not daft and he will want to engineer a situation where by he wins in the long run.

I find the offer from the SMC , insulting and a disgrace., £500 for having FC pictures on display for match days only- that equates to 13 home games ie £38.46 per gameday or permanently £14,000 per annum.

We should not pay any payment whatsoever. -as we would be allowing SMC to invoice us anything they desire.

I would urge, ALL FC fans in any future local elections, to think very carefully before they vote, anything but a vote for Labour,would make us homeless - IMO.

Paying the money will set a very dangerous precedent imo, that figure of £500 will rise dramatically and where will the charges stop? Before you know it Assem Trotter and his little side kick will be charging exorbitant amounts for everything FC do at the KC. Common sense and a pair of nuts needs to be adopted by the council to take these little minded throw my rattle out the pram merchants to task. Why should the pictures etc even warrant taking down or charging for them being there? They say its commercial space but not for city and fc being there what other use in realistic terms does the stadium get used for and do they really expect any other businesses to pay for that space in the foyer or the suites walls? How the hell these mercenaries stay in business with the childish attitude they have absolutely amazes me tbh. They have seriously underestimated the passion of rugby fans in this city if they think they can merely brush aside the games history without a whim from us the fans.

I really hope the Council are taking note of the Allams continuously stating they are propping up the SMC financially when it was actually their arrival that signified the start of the negative balance sheet.

That's it then, we fight on until no charge is involved.

The £500 is only for Johnny Whitely pictures, if we want to put up other pictures we will have to pay more

so, it's £500 for Whiteleys picture alone, and only on match days.

So the £500 only relates to the JW pictures, so any other Hull FC pictures would still be chargeable.

The fact is the walls at the KC Stadium should be adorned mutually in all public areas of the Stadium with pictures and memorabilia of not only City & FC but also sporting clubs & sports people from Hull as a show to people visting the stadium the sporting history and tradition of the City, not used or charged as bilboards.

Think we should all dress as fat arabs at the next home game with some insulting banners lol

As the story is now written it's clear that nothing at all has changed - it would still cost £20k to put back up everything that's been taken down.

This is just another publicity stunt from the Allam camp trying to make it look like it's the club's fault for not coughing up - and the HDM have been completely taken in by it as usual.

Well if thats true we have been completely mislead by the Mail who state "Hull FC could pay £500 to turn the KC Stadium black and white on matchdays!"

"Hull FC have been offered the opportunity to have their own branding throughout the KC on match days but as yet have not taken up any offer" "It is expected that Hull FC would have to pay £500 a season".

Absolututely....I still cannot hide my disgust of someone taking JWs Pictures down in a suite named in honour after him. Whoever took them down must of been a yes man with no regard to who JW is or extremely braindead.

That story was withdrawn and a new one put up that makes it clear that the £500.00 would be for a photo of JW only.

What a 24 hours it has been, culminating in what a lot of people will see as a climb down by Allam and the SMC. However, this last week has finally made my mind up about Allam. I just couldn't decide if the guy was a complete egotistical fruit nut or was just an eccentric philanthropist. I am now firmly in the camp that he is a fruit nut, but a very clever and cunning one at that.

I don't see this as a climb down at all, this position has been engineered for his benefit completely. The problem is FC are now in a very difficult position. There will be many on the council who know what Allam is all about but there will be many who are sympathetic to his views. This whole situation has been thought through so he can claim that he is just a friendly rich guy propping up the SMC trying his best to make it pay and is just looking for ways to help return the council some dividend on the stadium each year. He will claim he had the best intentions and so now is reducing the cost for displaying the photos to a token £500. So the general public of Hull who take little interest in the details will think isn't that kind of him and half the council will see this as an end to a petty squabble and they can go back to believing he is a knight in shining armor.

The thing is as mentioned already the sting in the tail is that as soon as FC or anyone else for that matter pay the £500 they are accepting a shift in the interpretation of the lease agreement with the SMC. However, if they tell him to stick his kind offer, then to the 200,000 in the Hull area who do not support FC it looks like we are the ones causing the issues.

Not an easy position to deal with and this is a sign of what is to follow unfortunately.
