Saturday night makes sense for Catalans due to the slightly cooler weather and attracting away fans, but you are right it gives them an advantage with the regularity of fixtures, Hull can also argue that this move doesnt help them attract away fans, I dont blame any Wigan fan for not bothering with the M62 on a weeknight.

| Quote ="UllFC"We seem to have had very little luck with home fixtures this year. Seem to have played at home several weeks in a row at times then gaps away from home for weeks which doesnt help crowds.
We've also had odd scheduling where we've Wakefield at home twice already but Huddersfield and Wigan havent been yet and we havent played Wakey away. Harder to get home and away fans in for a repeat of a fixture theyve only seen a few weeks ago.
Can only hope rumours of talks with Channel4 are true as they'd favour Saturday and Sunday afternoons and teatimes to suit their schedules. But SKY have RL by the balls so not getting my hopes up.
Im also supportive of banning other games from taking place when a TV game is on to try and drive the TV deal up. Even if that inconvinices me by Hull having to play on a different day. Currently its mad that a big game will be on TV, while 40k others are all in other grounds watching their own teams.'"
The only way we are going to increase fans attending matches is to reduce live TV in the future
1) bin Thursday games
2) ensure the game is represented on terrestrial TV
3) get back to Weekend matches preferably Sunday so that fans can travel without huge traffic delays on the motorways.
4) have only one live TV game on a Friday night Sky can have that
5) Terrestrial TV have one TV match on a Saturday but not live and shown later in the evening like after match of the day if BBC
6) live match Sunday but kick off 18.00.Nothing on TV at that time so prime viewing for Sports fans and will not effect supporters at other games if kick offs are 15.00.
Initially TV revenues may take a hit but in my opinion we would see a lot more interest in the game through Terrestrial Tv and more paying attending matches rather than sitting at home watching it on sky

| All TV games should be stand alone games no other games should be played at the same time. Why can't we have a Saturday afternoon game KO at 3 and a Sunday Night game KO at 5/530 after the other games have finished plus people who travel to the Sunday night games can get home at a decent time. Love it if Channel 4 got it give the game more coverage for people who don't get charge ridiculous prices to watch it.

6 of us were coming down from Edinburgh for this game train tickets purchased . That's £500 down the Swanny River . Mental also that Hull now have a short turnaround after a tough semi final and Wigan have 2 weeks off . The fans just don't count in any shape or form in Sky's eyes.

| Similar to 2017 when we played a Thursday night game at Headingley five days after the Challenge Cup final, scheduled when the semi finalists were known.

I was bringing two car loads from Manchester. Same happened in May.
I aren't going to bother making plans for Saturday games again.

Lots of us have been inconvenienced by this fixture being changed. Whoever is responsible should be reimbursing you for your expense. It's an absolute disgrace. I am disappointed that I cannot attend now as a result of the change but so relieved that I'm not out of pocket like you. Suggest you contact the club and the RFL and seek recompense.

I think the travelling fans of rugby league are against these mad Thursday fixtures, Sky do not seem to care about supporters logistical problems, empty grounds, disheartened supporters, no problem as long as the Sky subscribers keep forking out.

So Thursday fixtures broaden the wider television viewing audience on a night where RL does not compete with any other main stream sporting event.
Sky money has kept the game we love sustainable and enabled it on the whole to go full time in the summer era.
Isn't free or subsidised travel for away fans also offered?
But you're right Sky doesn't care.
Hate to think where our game would be if these subscribers didn't fork out showing interest and support for our sport.
I subscribe to Sky sports for the rugby alone.
Why not try looking at the broader spectrum before jumping to narrow minded conclusions.

| Whist it's a massive inconvience I just can't understand why anybody would purchase train tickets/hotels or anything of the like before Sky have announced which games they'll be showing that weekend. It's not as if they've ever changed a game day before is it?

I agree that without Sky, the game would still be part time. I have no problem with Thursday games, as you say, it’s not competing against other sports at that time slot.
I do object to games being changed at such short notice and the fact that rugby factors are not considered (short turn around).
The Wigan game was originally scheduled for 5pm on a Saturday, something which has as been the case for the last two seasons with the Wigan home game. This gave Wigan fans a much better chance of attending live, which they have done in those last two seasons. Now there is a huge hurdle put in their place with a Thursday game. The there is the short turn around for Hull. There is no reason why the Hudds v Leeds game could not be the Thursday game rather than the Friday TV game. Even a further 24 hours would make a reasonable difference in prep time.
If (and that’s a big if) we win the semi, a 5pm Saturday kick off v a well supported Wigan and I reckon we could have been looking at a gate of 13-14k with a decent atmosphere. Now it will be about 10k with many unable to get there n Thursday (including myself).
With fans booking travel and sometimes rooms in advance to get reasonable prices, there should be a minimum lead time of TV schedules IMO.

I do agree a bit more thought has to go into the re organising and scheduling of games, whether that's Sky, the Super League governing body or both I know not.

| I wouldn't be surprised if Clarky had some influence on this decision. Wigan having a week off, us having a short turnaround after a very hard game should see the pies cruise to a win.
I fear another embarrassing result is on the cards.

Why was the skill level far higher????
A full time professional against a smoking, beer swilling part timer.
What is your beef with Catalan and the world this week?
All Catalan home games are a Saturday as they are shown live by a French broadcaster.
Give it a rest now and go take your meds.
