You may be right, however we are not short as a club, also with Berro of the cap we must have a fair bit of space, enough to get a quality h/back and we should pay a fee as we can afford it!

Yes....but I do not know the price we offered.

I just think the coming season is now upon us and time has run out, I can not see the present board spending any money over and above what they think they need to sustain the clubs finances for another year.

They may have some room for an odd player to come in at a later date, we shall see

James Rule has constantly said the club can and will spend at cap maximum.

The only difference there is timing.

IF they don't spend at full cap, it won't be for the want of trying. Unless, of course, you know different.

My initial thoughts were of the same nature,when Berrigan left.

Obviously we are well under the cap, but probably the annual limit
for player spend has been reached,with the transfer fee paid for Westerman.

We maybe get a loan signing, but our squad depth is very thin, considering Berrigan,Cusack,Calderwood and Hall have gone,and only Sharp and Westerman have come in.

I hope, that if things start to go wrong, our CEO doesnt blame the timing of Berrigan's departure.

calders,was injured most of the season,and cusack was finished anyway,so we can really only count berro and hall.we have brought in sharp and westerman,and promoted,the likes of nicklas,green,crooks, etc.reece has now a few games under his belt,so they have been replaced,but i'm not saying we dont need more.

What 'annual limit for player spend' would this be?

Berrigan was on an alleged 175k per season contract according to media reports.

We allegedly paid a six figure fee for Westerman.

It doesnt take Einstein to work out, there is not a lot left.

Unless we had a 'sugar daddy' that paid the Westerman fee.

I know it's been mentioned here a few times already but I feel it needs mentioning again. Transfer fees do not count on the salary cap! We still have Berro's money available on the cap.

With the season so close I am trying to remain positive, but looking at our squad (team seems fine) I am really struggling.

Turner/Long doesn't fill me with great hope, last season i thought Turner was poor at stand off, just because he had a decent game against Doncaster worries me.

Agar recruitment started well with good young, English signing in Sharp and Westerman, but he has had 6 months to sign and halfback and has failed despite some being available/OOC but not signing them.

Hopefully he still has a couple of options or I see us struggling for the top 8, once injuries in key positions start.

I think what their suggesting is we are only looking to spend 1.6 million a year on players, wether that be wages or fees.

I tend to disagree as it would appear we are looking to sign a new player and spend a fee.

good point, the clue is in the name, "salary cap" it's not an "expenditure cap"

If the right player becomes available I think they will spend, they have proved this over the last couple of years.

Money isn't the problem for Hull.

Myler & Sammut are the two I definatley know about (via a player)...I have only heard strong rumours about Chase.

Myler didn't want to come. It wasn't about money.

If you don't know how much Crusaders were asking for Sammut, how do you know that we wouldn't pay a 'reasonable' fee?
