| THe problem with a large majority of FC fans these days is that theyve only known abject failure and mediocrity and are simply happy for a couple of decent wins a season as thats all theyve had for many years now. Most think that doing a completely average job at coach is acheiving something when it clearly isnt.

You don't really believe that, do you? I don't think I've seen a single poster state that they're happy with the way this season has panned out so far. We all crave success - demand it, even - but it won't happen immediately. Leeds have dominated this sport for a good few years, and they've done so by building the core of their side around their own academy players and adding a few quality signings from overseas. Wigan are doing a similar thing now, as well. Our youth structures have been badly neglected for several years and it will take time to rectify that. We've already seen some improvement in this area since Gentle arrived, and hopefully that will continue.
We can be dissatisfied with how things are panning out at the moment whilst also feeling that it's too early to think about showing Gentle the door. There's a whole spectrum of difference between this and blindly 'accepting mediocrity'.

| Quote ="Rock God X"I really don't get all the anti-Bomber sentiment on here. Pearson has never been involved with running a RL club before, and McRae has been in and around the game for many years. Why shouldn't Pearson employ him to oversee things? He has no input on team selection and, as far as I'm aware, doesn't decide which players we will sign. If there are problems on the field, I don't think the blame can be laid at McRae's door.'"
I agree. Gentle has been given a lot of credit for bringing players through from the youth system (and rightly so), but for me it seems more than coincidental that McRae is back and this area is looking the best it has since he was last here. I think he'll have had input in this area too, and deserves a share of the credit.

| Not one of our better seasons granted, but we are still in the cup and are still in the top 8.
Beginning of the season most fans expected top 6 and a good cup run. We can still make top 6 and our cup run could well continue after Saturday.
I will wait till the season is truly over before writing it off.

Absolutely. The last time we had more than one young player every few years coming through was when McRae was in charge.

Totally agree. McD might be daft but he clearly thought he was OK to do what he did and the interpretation has gone against him. Needs a lot of clarification.

I had a perfect view of the situation. The ball was still moving. The official (who didnt have much to do all day) got the one decision he had to make wrong.

Yep, spot on. The Horne etc generation was his, and now we finally have some more coming through with him here again. How many did we see in the interim who actually 'made it' rather than just played a handful of games?
Houghton
Briscoe
Lee
Washbrook
Any I've missed, is that really it?

your all deliberating about whether the ball was still moving and it makes no difference! - it was a drop out because he was straddling the ingoal area and was the last player to touch it before it went dead. got confused with the rule from kick off restart from half way.
rules state
"Should a kick be made dead by a defending player straddling the dead ball line or touch in-goal line, play will restart with a goal line drop-out."

No, the ref might not have got it spot on.........
Quote A player is deemed to be in touch if any part of his body touches the touchline or anything outside of the playing field. Similarly, a player is deemed to be touch in-goal or dead in-goal if any part of his body touches the touch in-goal or dead-ball line or anything outside the field of play in those areas. If a player who is in touch, touch in-goal or dead in-goal touches a moving ball then the team who kicked the ball or knocked on are responsible for the ball going out of play. However, if the ball is stationary in the field of play and is then touched by a player who is in touch, touch in-goal or dead in-goal then that player is responsible for the ball going dead.'"

| 1. The ball was still moving but it was almost at rest so risky for Sharon to do that when it could have just been run out. Lazy?
2. I also dont get the animosity towards Bomber. What do you care who AP employs?
3. If fans only supported teams when they are successful we wouldn't have enough teams to form a league. We can moan all we like but the most important thing is that we actually support the club through it all. Unfortunately certain "fans" seem to revel in misery and im just thankful I dont know them personally.

Ill go with the actual rules,
My view of it was perfect, the ball was still rolling, McDonnall was dead in-goal, the kicking team were responsible for the ball going out.

| I've never understood that ruling. I can remember when Raynor did it and we got the tap 20..
As for being in touch, we should of had a penalty in the second half for them pushing arundal in touch after momentum had been stopped.

Granted weve given a few young players a go but the players and coach weve brought in and performances have basically been just as poop as the previous owners.
The general formula for years has been sign a star to appease the fans, promise the world on the back of it then fail miserably and now Pearson owns us the formula continues. A 50+ year old coach with no first grade experience says it all, players who have potential but have never acheived feck all says it all again.
IMO were being done over again. Pearson hasnt got a clue, neithers Gentle or half the team.
You pay peanuts you get monkeys, you cant polish a turd, need i go on. IMO the club is a joke and the fans that apease it all are just as bad.'"
