Nobody is suggesting that sympathy will help them out. It'd do more than all the sticking in of knives, mind.
Offers for their players will not generate anywhere near enough cash to help them out of this hole.
Quote ="hullbg"At the end of the day the board and to an extent the fans are the ones responsible for the debt they have. The fans because all those bandwagonners have deserted them in droves once the trophies stopped coming in and the board for poor decisions.'"
By definition the fans they have [inow[/i are not responsible at all, as they are the ones still paying to see them play.

I was around back then as well. I don't hold any grudges against their fans for something that our BOD was implicated in, and that didn't threaten the existence of our club.

I bet you used Standee's polling agency for that survey.

See my response above. They're pretty much down to their core support, so the fans being hurt [inow[/i are the ones least deserving of it.

So you think those fans would happily have paid the normal price for their pass this season and last??? No they wouldn't hence the reason the passes were massively reduced, a risk by the board which has failed to pay off.
All the board are doing now is asking those passholders to pay the extra £100 their pass would have cost if sold at the standard price, but do you think those fans will dig into their pockets and pay it???
I agree the board are the main reason they are in the mess they are but to say the fans are blameless is a bit blinkered.

I just don't see how you can say it's Bradford's own fault for not managing their money and also be bitter that they took players from us when we allowed the situation to arise by having players not even knowing if they would get paid or not. The very fact that we've been stung by this kind of thing should make us more aware of how the fans feel in all this and prevent us from getting a kick out of it by seeing it as some sort of petty revenge. Don't play the victim and then celebrate the fact we can become the offenders.
And also, I don't think anybody is saying we shouldn't be looking at their players, we definitely should, but there's a difference in simply benefitting from somebody's poor situation and enjoying it whilst doing so.

I think it will be somwhere in the middle. Can't see them getting enough from player sales but think they could knock a considerable hole out of it, say about £300-350k.

Of course it is Bradfords own fault...They signed a player for 5 yrs only last week! they must have known then that they were in the mire having had to sell the stadium to the RFL because they could not pay them back.. They just about gave the season passes away, they should have been looking to reduce the wage bill..
Like I said Bradford are a rival team I support FC so if they cannot afford to cut it get rid and bring in a team which can, it is simple for me. I doubt this kind of empathy occurred when the Dobbins went to the wall!
I will only enjoy it if we get a couple of decent players.

They managed it well with Harris didnt they....they must have known they would get royally screwed when they signed him and his Registration was still with Leeds...that is bad mamagement.

Why would they do that when letting the Bulls go into administration would mean being able to pick them up for free - or at least next to nothing? Not to mention that they need the cash before the 6th of April which leaves little time to sort out terms/contracts/etc.
It just isn't viable IMO.

And they'd save on the salaries. But they actually need £1M in pretty short order - the £500k is just the most urgent chunk of that.

True...but with a cash bid,you get the player you want instead of waiting to scrap it out with other teams.

That's certainly true, but I'd still expect clubs to bid low in the knowledge that the Bulls are desperate. I can see Burgess and Whitehead making decent sums but not anyone else realistically. And they've got less than a fortnight to come up with the cash...

Did I say it wasn't the Bradford board's fault? Don't think I did.
What I said was you can't blame them for their troubles and still blame them for ours that they benefitted from. You should maybe accept that and let go of the bitterness so that this childish glee you're exhibiting may dissipate.
Reduce the wage bill by a million? What do you want them to do, release the full playing squad and sign up Dudley Hill's team?

| I feel for the Bradford fans - we were on the brink once and I remember the gut wrenching feeling oh so well.
I hope that they reach the other side still afloat for the sake of RL in this country.
What happens between now and that point (if indeed they make it) will shape the club that remains.
If they need to restructure on the playing side I would hope that we would be assessing the situation accordingly.

You do realise that in signing Whitehead up for 5 years they are giving themselves more bargaining power when/if clubs come in for him with offers?
Plus they can't go releasing players still in contract.
