We still have problem defending out side and even though it was a great comeback some of the tries were ragged ones and not through great rugby.
However I don't think we were that bad in the first half, we just got no ball for 15 mins and the ref killed us with pens. It too it's toll but once we got a fair share of the ball we started to take control.
Character in abundance and credit should go to coaches and players, still in 4th and getting players back, lets enjoy it.'"

McShane was injured, so what if Danny Houghton got injured during the game? Because Hall was on the bench we had options - Hall to 6, Washy to 9 or Hall to , Turner to 6, Washy to 9 or even Hall to full back Tansey to 9 (god forbid). If Burnett was on the bench, what would you have done if Danny got injured?? Moa to 9?
By the sounds of it, Danny Houghton had an absolute cracker and deserved to stay on the pitch the whole 80 minutes, if that's the case Agar was playing what was in front of him rather than a pre thought out plan - something people said he did before.

And Saints had 6 internationals out plus 2 got injured on the night(Roby Another international & Wheeler) so they were hindered injury wise more than us.
As I said I'm stocked at the win but strictly speaking if we don't win silverware (ie come second or worse) then that IS failure. Yes we seemed to have improved somewhat from the previous 2 years BUT and this is a big but, we were 2nd & 3rd from bottom ffs!
With the players in the squad we've had that is not even remotely acceptable injuries or no!
Without leaders like Fitz & Long in the side we'd be propping up the table without a shadow of a doubt, having seen the same errors in the team on the field of play I have no doubt that Agar is still not the man for the job.
Can you see us winning the grand final this year or next playing the rugby we do? I can't.

| Not Agar's biggest fan (In case you didn;t guess) but the lads came out in that second half ready for a battle. Not seen us come out that fired up for a while. Saints did their homework and moved the ball out wide whenever possible to try and expose our weak defence out wide.
I suspect Longy had more than a few words at half time as well but Agar gets the credit for turning them around at half time when to be honest it looked like a drubbing was on the cards.

Maybe not, but how many teams go from 12th to winning the grand final in one year in the SL?
Yes and if you take Peacock and Sinfield out of Leeds' team they're a much worse team as are Warrington without Monaghan and Briers - the way the salary cap is you can't replace someone like Longy or Fitz with someone who is just as good.
We're 4th, 2 points from 2nd have beat 3 of last years top 4, doing the double over a team who has reached the grand final 4 consecutive years... jeez some people are never happy.

To be fair, it seems in the last couple of weeks his team talks have really led to an improved second half performance. Maybe he is starting to get it right.

Before the game we also had Horne/Lauaki/Calderwood/Berro Missing so pretty even with players out before the game, as for players getting injured during the game that was mainly down to the intensity of the Hull running so again nothing you can take away from us on that. We played some great rugby at times again last night and it is a big improvement on the dire one man rugby we played the previous 2 seasons.
I dont expect us to win the GF or get to it this year, and was never a goal for most supporters. Making the playoffs with a decent position in the table 4th-6th was most peoples expectations and to be fair to Agar we are certainly on course for that.
I am not convinced about Agar but we seem to be turning a corner and the only thing that is letting us down now is our defence out wide.

I disagree in modern sport with coaches carrying subs in case of injury when they should really be there to give a tactical advantage at certain points in the game.
Those on this thread saying to get off agars back need to re-read the posts that are been written. Agar is getting plenty of credit, from me included but that doesnt mean we have to agree with everything he does. People are simply suggesting better ways to do things putting the result to one side. Why not?

We've already established that Burnett was the only other option. So what tactical benefit would have been gained by having him in the 17? Maybe he could have come on for Tickle and kicked two drop goals?
Tickle and Fitz are 80 minute men, Manu got a rest when he needed it, and the decision to play Houghton for the full 80 was more than justified by his performance, so nothing was to be gained by having Burnett instead of Hall. It annoys we when people try to find faults with Agar that just aren't there.

FWIW, I agree with uncle junior. Great comeback win, however I reckon you come back from 20 points down against saints once every sheffield flood. Yes we won, yes it was great to win, however we were pretty lucky in the end, particularly with the injury to roby. Had he stayed on I doubt we'd have picked up the points. Likewise I was very please to see fozzard on the bench instead of puletula.
Far too many people getting carried away by a last minute win against an injury ravaged saints side on our own "island"
Having said that, the only thing that matters is the 2 points which we have. Need to improve and get more consistent from here

O'Meley went off injured not long after Roby, in the middle of his 2nd spell which is usually when he's at his most dangerous. I suspect that equally Saints were very pleased to see Hall on the bench instead of Lauaki.

Why shouldn't people savour a win like that? Games with that amount of expansive play, crunching hits and 78th minute winning drop goals are there to be replayed and remembered. I'm not denying Saints were injury ravaged, but we were missing Berrigan, Horne, Lauaki and Calderwood.

I really enjoyed it last night and you are quite right that everything is not rosy but it would take a very pessimistic fan to suggest things are not looking rosier.
After the Quins Magic weekend game I was absolutely livid with what we were being dished up and whilst things are far from perfect there are some really positive signs emerging.
We threw the ball around a fair old bit last night with real confidence and after some of the one out dross in recent times it was really refreshing.
It is also great to see our pack that was talked up so much pre-season starting to show exactly why ths was. They really pummelled their saints counterparts at times in that second half and saints forwards (graham aside) had no answer to it.
The emergence and developments of Moa and Houghton in recent weeks has been another real bonus for us too.
we still have some influential players to come back and have some fairly winnable games coming up so cementing a place in the top 4, which will be tough given leeds recent improvements, is actually looking a possibility.
I am still terrified that Long gets injured though because he is irreplaceable and the difference with him in the team to when he isnt is vast.
All in all a great night last night and one to savour.

Very true. It's not just what he does directly himself, it's that other players are anticipating him creating something and putting themselves in the right places, thereby improving our chances of converting any opportunities.
