Yes it looks suspicious at times but I think Sinfield came out and some of their players are prepared to take less money to play for a club that wins things.

I [isuspect[/i that we're just not very good at negotiating contracts or exploiting the few remaining 'loopholes' in the cap. Plus Leeds may be able to get away with paying less because they have a better coach and a history of winning silverware.

| Or our marquee signings are on mega bucks to attract them; more than they would have been offered at sucessful clubs. Surely most teams would have been interested in Fitz/Long/O'Meley; yet they ended up in Hull; money talks my friends and we've blown the lot on our talented aging trio imho.

I dont think thats the case how many signings have Hull missed out due to not offereing as much as other clubs and everyone on here complaining. see dobson, puletua, lauatiti ect ect
there must be some loop holes where missing out on when you look at waringtons squad

Leeds must have be at full cap last year with the squad they had, for this season they lost Lee Smith and signed 2 very good NRL players in Deleney and Eastwood. They also brough in Pitts, Amor and Coady.
Looks like they have found a way.

whilst not wanting to derail the thread.
Am I right in thinking you can de register a player and just have him as paid staff? Which is not on the cap?
With regard to smith as a guess I'd say we spend within our income forcast to make a profit.
Again there's a massive Imbalance in the squad with our backs looking bare thin.

| He would be a good signing but I think people are bigging him up a little, good solid back, but it just shows how short we are for British backs when we are fighting over a player of Lee Smith standard.

Eastwood was budgeted for on their cap last season, he just had Visa problems so couldn't come over.

They will have been under last season, they had budgetted for Eastwood but he never came and they never replaced him. The young players they brough in this year will just have replaced the like of Gibson, Broughton and one or two other youngsters that left.
Delaney was brought in to replace Smith, however maybe they have a little left for this year which maybe Smith is willing to accept and then they can pay him more in the following seasons. Senior will stop at some point so Delaney and Smith would be the ideal partnership for them.

Ok fiar enough, but it doesn't emplain how they can sign Delaney with Smith wages (must be simalar) and then still sign Smith back.
And thats without the signings of Pitts, Amor and Coady.
Leeds really work the salary cap well.

I would hope that Wakins is Senior replacment, Smith on the wing to replace Donald.
BJB to replace Webb also.

Why do people get so stressed about other teams cap?
FYI, All of Leeds squad for this year was signed before Smith turned down the contract offer from Leeds.
Smith was already budgeted within the salary cap. He turned it down and went. As long as IF Smith came back he was playing for the same contract value Leeds offered, then it would be under the cap.
I think people just tend to forget that Eastwood was originally signed for last year, and included in that budget. He is not a new addition to our cap this year.'"

So you are just guessing that Leeds were up to the full cap in signing Delaney?
Toopi & Scrutton were never "replaced" like for like on the cap
Also Gibson, Ellis, Broughton, Ratu, Allen etc have all moved on in the last couple of years

Good point , Decent player , But not someone you'd break the bank for . Before he left Leeds , I thought he wanted to play centre and not wing?.
