Terrible times for Wakey fans. Not sure what's happening there as the takeover by Glover seems to be in all sorts of bother. Really hope they can be saved somehow.

Why?

I understand the sentiment, but the practicality is that it's a failed business like any other. I feel for the Wakey fans, but my only concern is we paid a fee for Obst when we could have had him for nothing. (If the article is accurate)

Because I don't want to see fewer RL clubs, particularly not one that's been around since 1873. And I don't want to see Wakey fans without a club to support, which would likely mean most of them lost to the game altogether.

For clarity, I'm not suggesting that they be saved by any means necessary, just hoping that they can find a way out of the mess they've got themselves into.

Surely bit late in the day to expect Widnes to be in a position to able to play in superleague.

If and I mean if it's true about Kear and the rest of the coaching staff, then surely Wakey will be unable too compete in superleague ??

According to the Yorkshire post 14 back room staff were made redundant but all the coaching staff remain in employment.

Wakey have a press conference this afternoon apparently that should clear things up a bit, they will definitely play Catalan, and they may even be getting some new players. Not dead yet by the looks of it.

Perhaps the government should step in like the did when certain banks were failing (but that's a whole other discussion)

there's a difference between suring up and entire economic infrastructure and sending a few quid to a badly run minority sports club!

Sentimentality has to be put aside, the simple fact is that Wakefield hasn't worked as a club for many years, they have put off the inevitable many times and this time the music has stopped and all the chairs are taken, the RFL will be rubbing their hands knowing that Widnes can come in, Castleford, St's, Salford etc have new grounds.

Sadly I think that bit is true, but if Wakey are screwed it will make the whole franchise process easier to sort out. If Wakey can get their house in order then they can apply for the next round. Simples

The problem Wakefield face is that the world has changed since KR did their pheonix from the ashes act (but learnt nothing from the whole experience judging by their current situation).

Wakefield will have a rugby league club, in NL1 or 2, they wont get a new stadium and I doubt very much they will trouble SL again any time soon if they do lose their franchise.

I agree. I can't see a way back for them either.

If Cas use their heads they could attract a few fans out of this.

Tbh,rovers will only go bust if crossland does first.i think its fair to say rovers ''debts'' are a lot bigger than wakefield's,but unfortunately wakey don't have anyone prepared to underwrite them,like crossland does for the Dobbins.

tbh i either hull went out of bussiness i think they would be a fair few who would go and watch the other team at the end of the day its rugby league that we watch and a what a sport it is and for me to watch super league every week would be great but i still hate rovers lol

I used to go to when craven park was first built, when you was in the lower leagues with roofs brother and when you first got back in sl until i came to oz for the world cup.

I like watching rl.
