| With Holmes a doubt this would be what I’d go with
Moy
Martin
Hardaker
Rapana
Barron
Cust
Sezer
Ese Ese
Bourouh
Aydin
Cartwright
Lane
Asiata
Ashworth Sao Balmforth Chamberlain
Alternative could be to start chamberlain, move rapana to full back with moy on bench to bring on to change the game if required

| Fash was poor pretty much all of last season. When he wasn't injured he looked like he wanted to start a fight with anyone in the general vicinity, his previously ok defence took a dive and his go forward was virtually non existent. He needs a big season

Its going to be another Abdull disaster
could be another that Myler has to pay off

Abdul disaster? They paid him off instead of having him sat in the stands. They'll possibly do the same with Holmes if required. They can afford to do that. Hardly a disaster.
A disaster would have been retaining Cam Scott on a mega contract and see him play 6 to 8 games all season.

Abdul had the no.6 shirt and was using one of our 3 marquee quota spots, we're now going into the season as a playmaker short and should anything happen to sezer/cust long term, cover is a bit thin on the ground...you could argue it's a bit of a disaster.

| Abdull was a high risk move which hasn't paid off unfortunately. There was a chance that at this point we'd be looking forward to seeing him line up against a former club in 2 days.
I found it interesting when Abdull signed he made a comment that he hadn't spoken to Cartwright but had "heard good things" or something like that. Maybe Cartwright just didn't rate him. I'm not sure the signing was a "disaster".

As I said in a previous post. Depends what’s in the contract they sign.

We are still short of a playmaker or at least some creativity IMO, but it’s not like signing Abdull prevented us signing anyone else. He was signed early doors and we still went for Lam and Sailor, possibly Sullivan and signed Cust and Sezer after.
It was a gamble that was taken because he would have qualified for a big dispensation on the salary cap because he came through the academy, it was a unique situation. Looking at who was available maybe we could have signed someone like Olly Russell as a third senior half instead of doing the JA deal, but there’s an argument to say that long term Charles or Kemp might work out better for the club anyway then that.

My question is, who would you have signed instead of Abdul to play half. There weren’t many domestic 6’s available. Club also rate Jack Charles highly so exposure should do him good.
But on topic, hopefully we put in a decent performance. Catalan look shaky. Control the ruck and I’m hopeful we can be in with a shot.
Win or lose, I’ve missed it

Spot on. Win the game of attrition and later on players like Rapana, Moy & Martin will find some space. Think the pack decide this one

| I think everyone agrees, Cartwright and Myler included, that our squad isn't currently ideal but this is a multi-year project and I think we'll see some more movement before the season is out.

| Looking at the team Cats have it's gonna be a long shot for us to get a win .....Bookies giving us 14 start .....I want to see us scrap and fight for every tackle and give all for 80 min......Do that and the result will take care of it self.........

| Picks itself apart from 2 of Briscoe, Barron or Martin. Then Fash or maybe Salabio on the bench.
But looks like Fash will be the on bench to rotate back row/Asiata …grim

Prefer to see both Barron & Martin given the chance but we may well see Briscoe in there. We don't have too many options to cover SR with Holmes and Chamberlain out.

Go big against Catalans. 5 big front rowers, Aydin to spell Asiata when he needs a rest so we don't lose that intensity in the middle. Any chance of a result will depend on our ability to hold the ball and be disciplined, gifting them territory will only end one way.

| Don't think we get a better chance, they look rusty and a couple if big forwards look unfit.
A couple of key players out, whilst we are about fully fit.
They still have to be favourites, but think we have a chance.

| Guessing it will be Fash, as he has played backrow in pre season.
Kemp maybe there if Seizer doesn't recover.

Funny you should mention that as Logan Moy was at Total fitness earlier with Holmes, Chamberlin,Litten and Jebson.

| If it’s going to be an arm wrestle I’d go backline of
1 Rapana
2 Barron
3 Hardaker
4 Briscoe
5 Martin
All will help out the forwards and have a bit of size abou them, Rapana at full back for kick returns could be vital with his size and the way he runs the ball in.
