The thing is, thinking about it, that may not be in Obst's interests if he can't find a club, unless the payoff was silly money. If we pay him off and he's without a club, at 31 there's a good chance he'll have been retired, because who's going to use a quota spot on him at 32 after a year out? If he's finding it hard now it will be nigh-on impossible then. If he has any intentions of playing on beyond 2012 he needs a club to at least keep himself fit and in the reckoning.

Why? Is the loophole Warrington used for Hicks now closed? I thought it was still the case that a player only counted on your cap if he played a competitive game in that year.

I thought i read sometime ago that Obst had applied for a British passport, if he gets this he would no longer be classed as quota player and would be easier to offload.

Good player ferguson but I thought we wanted rid of obst more for is qouta spot instead of his salary . With losing radders id have thought we'd have enough for ferguson , so I think if obst does go its for another overseas player .

Mckinnon, O'Meley, Seymour and Moa taking up just 4 of your 5 spots. Given the field of NRL players with EU or Islander heritage from which you could recruit is hardly narrow; if Obst's quota spot is the issue you must have someone specific in mind, I'd guess. And you'd think they'd want it resolving ASAP.
Maybe it is a wage issue.

I do read on here often and I'm not dissagreeing with you about Agar, I too hope that Gentle will be the answer to take us back to the top but some people think its a done deal. The fact is he has not been a head coach before and may (And I really hope not) fail.
