I've been supporting Hull for 16/17 years now. In that time Dobson is the only half you have has that I would have wanted at Hull. Webster did well for you, but had a lot of deficiencies. Green was average for you and only since going to Wigan has he looked like a top player. Burns is ok, but it's his competitiveness and aggression that I like, I don't think he is that skilful. Keating looks worse that our halves.

Even Dobson is only a decent player and nothing more, if he was anything special he would be an NRL regular. Let's be honest he isn't fit to lace Jason Smith's boots. Same goes for Tony Smith. He will never achieve half of what Richard Horne has. And based on playing ability alone he is behind Adam Dykes and Matty Head too.

I was delighted with Chris Thorman. But also McGoldrick. Best to remain optimistic until the (almost universal) let-down, you have a better time of it.

He was anything but average in his 1st year, winning POTY and looking a class act. It was only his blood clot injury pre-season in 2012 that ruined his 2nd season.

You are deluded. Dobson was in his prime at Rovers.
Dykes & Head were finished/crocked when they joined Hull.
Dobson has had three attempts at the NRL & is/was hopeless.
Both Dykes & Head were major players their respective NRL clubs for years.

Dykes was a great player, we just never got him on the pitch enough. I still believe we would have won the cup in 2008 if he had played.

He put himself out of that final, the coach told Paul Hatton to get him 80% fit! which he did then on the day he wanted to do some light training they was inside wembley & he was running up the steps in the stands like a maniac, & pulled his hamstring!

Both were far better players than Dobson. That's why they had over 300 NRL appearances between them and Dobson can't get a game. Trouble is they were crocks by the time they came to Hull, so we only got flashes of what they could do, but they were very good players. Head in particular imo.

As for Green, I remember him coming over and having a decent 1st season. Then he got his injury and they found the blood clot and his second season was heavily disrupted because of this. He was a good player, he's proving that now, but I certainly didn't "crave" him when he was at Rovers.

Dobson might not have been as good as Dykes or Head, but what he did do in SL, and it was something they couldn't, was turn up every week. The best players in the world are useless in the stand. This made Dobson a very valuable Super League player indeed as he could be relied upon to turn out good performances on a consistent basis - ideal for team building. This dependability is a very under-rated asset at times.

However as Dobson is now approaching an age when injuries do start catching up, plus he is a "high mileage" player in terms of games played, I would be rather wary about signing him now. Sad to say the dobbins had the best of him.

Ok zucc Dobson may not have made it in the nrl but on the other hand Keating has played in an nrl grand final I know which player I would rather have

What I meant was that they were more talented than Dobson. Dobson undoubtedly contributed more to Rovers than they did to us though, purely because he wasn't a crock.

Would Campese count on the quota ?. I know his family is from Italy and he did offer to play for the Azzuri , Not sure he ever did .

Campese is class, but it's just if we want to tie up a lengthy and expensive contract on someone who's not robust.
