Blaymire is an underrated player and would be a good backup at fullback which would also allow Tansey to play elsewhere, likewise Murphy would provide cover at fullback and the wing.

Either would not be a bad option.

In case people haven't realised, we are extremely short in back-up for our three-quarter line (as well as half back, hooker, and probably prop as well!) so I'd welcome any signing from Wakefield's first team to be honest as a fairly decent back-up option!

May be 30 but as backup he is quality.. Also, he won't affect our overseas position and, i would imagine, would come on quite a cheap contract!!

Yes still a good player - not top class but would strengthen our squad.

He's exactly he cover we need IMO. Still enables us to sign a top class 7 in 2012 and can play across the backs if required..

Same here...he can be a very potent player and as you say he would do a job.

I wouldn't mind Obst on a one year deal for the reasons you said, but I don't thing signing a top class halfback in 2012 will be any easier then 2011, they just don't come to the UK, we need to take a gamble on someone with potential, the sooner the better.

The term backup...will become irrelevant, if, we get anyone they will play week in week out....cos the two "first choice" halfs won't make it....already evident with Horne...not even close to making start of season. When did we knock off.....Oct??
I really do hope the club have plans....everyone in RL know we need a halfback, yet he we sit 3 weeks from KO....no better off than the 18 months ago, you could even argue longer!!
I'm pretty confident if I had the money even I could buy one!!

Been saying this since last season finished. Anyone signing for Hull FC would know they'd be on the pitch more games then the other 2 halves put together!

If Obst is all that is available, I'd take him, but surely a club of our size has a better option?

have we?? we did sign todd byrne and many other second rators because we was desperate, and nothings changed this year either

i think everbody just needs to accept we won`t be signing anyone before the season starts, if somebody becomes available through the season we will move then otherwise we will just go with what we have

Why do they? I am not saying we will but what are you basing this theory of yours on?

I know the club are not thinking this way and are still trying to do the right deal for the club so how do you know better?

Paul, it`s just my own opinion, i know we have made enquiries for Chase and Sammut but it was always going to be difficult this close to the start of the season to prize them away from their club unless we paid a rediculous transfer fees it looks to me that neither of these deals are going to happen, i am not sure if there are any other options out there and i wouldn`t want us to sign someone now just for the sake of it, i would much rather wait and see if some quality becomes available through the season.
