| Quote ="Old_Faithful_IAKW"With regards to point b, in a salary cap sport I cannot agree. Maybe, for instance, Peacock would come if we offered a ridiculous amount of money to him. What happens then? The rest of the squad is of much lesser quality simply because we paid way over the odds for 1 player.. It doesn't work.'"
Thinking about it you're probably right, the only example I can think of in recent years where a player truly at the top of his game at a successful club, made a move to a less successful club is Fielden to Wigan, who were subsequently found to have broken the salary cap!

FC have nowhere to go with this. Is Pearson the sort of bloke who's going to fund good quality recruitment from the NRL and put it behind a pack which has finished 7/8th and lost Fitzgibbon and Lauaki (sp)?'"
But he would still be giving an opinion on that players worth, rather than Pearson not taking his advice on a players value. Every player has a value based on age, ability, contract length, etc.
I'm not disputing with you that Lynch maybe the best option, but he will have a value put on him by the team at Hull FC and they will not exceed it.
and FWIW, losing Lauaki is generally not considered a bad thing

| It all comes down to lynch really if he wants out then they will sell him if he is happy to stay at Bradford then they will keep him unless fc pay over the odds for him imo.

If Lynch wants out no matter what, Bradford can hardly hold Hull to ransom can they? We would say ok just keep him we aint paying that sort of money. Then they are left with a very unhappy player.

| i think our squad looking very so far for next year but we obviously need a backrower, prop and a centre/winger in an ideal world and been realistic i would like larne patrick, liam watts but andy lynch would be good for a year or 2. as for a centre what about Yileen Gordon?

Your not going to become the best side in super league by paying players inflated wages.
You have to manage a salary cap (or cheat) so anyone who thinks we can simply wave a cheaque book and get a great squad over night is deluded
That said if you are a winning side you can offer competition win bonus as an incentive. This would make it even harder for us to sign a player from wigan, warrington, saints etc.

Quote BRADFORD Bulls prop Andy Lynch will become Hull FC's first big-name signing under new owner Adam Pearson.
The 31-year-old former England international is the subject of a "serious" transfer bid from the Black and Whites.
And despite having a year left on his deal, he appears certain to head to Hull for 2012.
Although Hood would not reveal details of the discussions, the Mail has been told Lynch has made clear his desire to move to the KC Stadium.

Looks unimpressive to say the least. Utility back released by both his clubs and a fair few injuries. Not sure this is the signing for the final push to the Season Pass launch.

| The HDM editor has said there has been "mixed" reaction to the Lynch story. I don't understand why.
1) Injury record? Er, no. Appearances in the last 5 seasons: 27, 25, 24 ,26, 25.
2) Effectiveness? I've posted his stats before:
4th highest metres made in the comp after Tomkins, Roby and Graham
3rd in the comp for offloads with 50 so far this season
9th in the comp for tackles - 699
5th in the comp for carries - 463
3) Age? Warrington have the oldest squad in the competition in terms of over 30s and aren't looking too shabby, including Morley, who at 34 is older than Lynch would be at the end of a 2 year deal.
4) Attitude? Captain of the Bulls, arguably their most respected player, and "has made clear his desire to move to the KC Stadium."
If we signed him we'd have Ogre, Moa, Lynch, O'Carroll and Radford. With the lack of props in the market (remember the protracted chase for Fielden last year), I'd be very pleased with this.

| Lynch has proved in a very mediocre side to be one of the best props in the league. He will prove to be a very good signing and probably give you the strongest panel of props in the league. Top 4? I think fourth spot could be up for grabs as it looks to me like the Nathan Brown factor is showing signs of of wearing off.

Been mixed reaction on twitter, age teens to be the issue. I don't care as he will be a top signing imo. Fans want major signings, whatever those are? Not every player can come from the NRL.
