Lee does offload and, as with any risk taking, it sometimes comes off and sometimes doesn't, but I believe he adds something to our attack. He is also a very effective defender; his tackling and work around the tackle area in the wrestle are amongst the best in our team. I believe he does his fair share of work when used, as he now is, as a prop.

And his leadership, I think he is a knowledgeable guy who is well liked and respected by his peers and the local community. Unfortunately he was skipper during two abject seasons for which I don't think he can carry the can.

Wigan, Saints, Wire and ourselves have the strongest backrows IMO.

Wigan definitely would as would Warrington IMO. Leeds is arguable as is Saints.

Compare our backs to these teams though and we're looking at having the 7th or 8th best team in the league.

And on just as many occasions they've been equally as devastating to us!



But he does have a decent late short pass as he approaches the line, which other props have benefitted from on numerous occasions.



Albeit one that he seems to switch off on a semi-regular basis.



Neither of them are, or they wouldn't be props.



The overall difference between Radford and Dowes is not much at all.

I think you're being a bit harsh mate tbh. We're 5th with a good shout a 4th, with a crippling injury list this year. We've beaten Sts (deservedly so) twice this year and they're 2nd. We have an almost fully fit squad going into the playoffs with a good chance of progressing quite far if not all the way!!

Don't write us off just yet, if in 4 weeks time we come home with the trophy do we stll have the 7/8th best team in the comp??

I think our three are up there in the same class but maybe lack the ball playing ability of all but Warrington.

I don't think we have the 7/8th best team this year. I do think we would next year, we're standing still whereas Wigan (who have been the best team in the league by a mile) are bringing in 3 quality players. Saints who are above us are bringing in 2 top props. Wire have brought in the reigning man of steel.

If you think that Radford's offloads cause us as much damage as the opposition, than you need to get yourself a season pass next year and go to a few more games.

I'm not saying Radford is the best player in the world but he's on a totally different level to Dowes, and also has the coaching attributes which Dowes just doesn't....

Radford's got quite a good medal collection for a shiiiiite player that's spent most of his time in a Hull side which you don't rate too highly!!

I see your point, but wholesale changes don't guarantee immediate success. Our lot will have a year under their belts of playing together and will no doubt benefit from knowing each others preferred options in any given situation!!

All i'm saying is don't write off next season before this one has even finished... Let's enjoy the playoffs and cheer the lads on in typical Hull FC fashion!!

Is Dowes still 100% coming to us?


We've signed Hargreaves so that may mean Dowes is going elsewhere.

Although I did watch a couple of games and Josh Perry was awful! He didnt take a hit up for 3 sets in a row and it was only the 9th minute. Shillington was dominating him and he was brought off after about 12mins and didnt come on again untillright near the end if at all if I remember correctly. On that performance Saints are welcome to him.

We have not finished our recruitment yet, lets wait and see. We have a good rosta, keep our halves fit and we will be around the top four again.

I think you know what he meant, we have been reasonably okay with most positions but have been crucified around the halfback position.

I know what he meant and agree that halves have been the worst hit but he's still wrong. We had multiple injuries in the same positions at the most important times!!

Back to Westerman then, shove Fitz into the 2nd row and Lauaki up to prop and job's a goon 'un!

Fielden still might leave Wigan aswell, oh for Fielden getting a bit of redemption on Mason next year!

Giving a new contract to one of Dowes/Radford isn't the end of the world as long as we have a quality prop to come in (like Fielden) but if we re-sign both of them, it will be a sign that we are quite happy to challenge for top 6 and stay were we are without actually having much chance of silverware.

Dowes is not good enough and I would rather go with what we've got and keep looking into the season 2011 than give him an extension almost by default.
