Great shame about Prince, he would have been a terrific signing and a "proper number seven" to quote Peter Gentle.

Seriously underwhelmed at the thought of Holdsworth/Seymour. DH improves the team but BS is just not up to it.

The last few months have shown that Pearson certainly has the ambition, and is doing everything in his power to make us a force again.
Don't think us being so open about it is dong anyone any favours though.

I say we sign up McGoldrick, and hope that someone becomes available in mid-season. The last thing we want to do is chuck a load of money at some nobody at last minute, as that just leaves us in the same situation we've had for the past 5/6 years now.

Don't think they would offer a untested halfback 200k when Manu left because he was offered a lower salary than that. Also Hull are tight on the cap. He is currently in demand for NRL as well. Be good if we got him but not getting hopes up. In terms of Seymours knee it does need sorting out. I would be more worried if he was in a different position but in some cases halfbacks can usually perform when not 100% fit. I've seen really poor play from him and some decent stuff from him. He is not as bad as other halves we have had at the club in the past 5 years. Lets see how his knee holds up and see how he goes with Holdsworth.

If we're tight on the cap without having signed a quality 7 then we are definitely paying some players way too much.

Probably just about afford a 7 but won't be spending a lot. Princes deal wasn't as good as some people may think. The days of Aussies coming over here for retirement have gone due to the salary cap increasing in Oz. Some said the salary cap should be increased but with poor sponsorship in relation to other sports and some clubs struggling it will never happen. If Prince is going to Brisbane is there anyone we can steal from them? The thing is now, not enough quality HB's around and available.

Looking at our squad, it's depth and players such as Seymour who are on a decent whack we must be there or there abouts. If we had a lot of space on the cap we would have probably offered Manu a better deal than saints. I could be wrong but im sure AP said the other Wednesday how tight the cap was. Sure he has said it but not 100% when.

No shame in being second choice to Prince.

Personally I would prefer that we be willing go with Seymour, and patiently keep a vacant place open for the right man, rather than resign Goldie.
If we doubt that we will win silverware with Seymour, I cannot see Goldie doing much better for us.

Yeah i see your point there, but with the players we've let go and the interest in chase and prince. I'd safely say that at least we'd have about £250-£300k left over IMO

Well, its not for the lack of trying. Pearsons pulled out all the stops to get a pairing, going for quality each time.

It's no-one's fault that Chase cannot get a new visa or Prince's agent got a better deal.

Holdsworth/Seymour is better than Horne/Seymour, so we've improved already. Still gutted though.
