| Hull Fc have totally embarrassed themselves with this signing, why start a campaign against domestic violence then sign a guy guilty of breaking his ex girlfriends door down and assaulting her, and who has been told he may be going to prison for it , keep up the good work Hull FC board

You lot still at it?
Reardon didn't break the door down. He hasn't been found guilty of that. He pled guilty to common assault. Reardon tricked his then wife into opening the door by telling her that their child was in hospital (presumably said child was staying elsewhere since she was with her new boyfriend at the time). She opened the door, Reardon pushed past her, Pryce followed her in. At some point some yelling went on, Mr O'Brien (new boyfriend) had rounders bat in hand. At some point Reardon grabbed his then wife by the arm, causing three bruises (presumably with his fingers) and Pryce pushed Mr O'Brien, causing him oops! to fall on the floor and hit his head on the peddle bin. This all started because Reardon was told in the pub that his then wife had a new fella.
It's in the domestic violence court because Mr & Mrs were Mr & Mrs at the time. It doesn't mean that Reardon has ever hit his wife or indeed grabbed her arm before.
For all we know, this could be the ex-Mrs Reardon's revenge for him divorcing her. Just offering an alternative. We really don't know, do we? It was their marriage, it went wrong, and things can go bad when marriages go wrong.
btw I am female, just for info.
And no, I don't support domestic violence either by males or females. I also think it is a good thing that Hull FC have become involved in a project which is aiming to redirect the lives of those who have committed acts of domestic violence. It's easy to ignore the perps but some of them will be redeemable and hopefully projects such as this one will catch them and turn them around.

Think you will find that the Hull part of RLfans is completely packed with whiter than white, "morally outraged", born again christian jehovah mormon fundamentalists who have never so much as raised an eyebrow when splitting up with their partners. Most of course post first and then read about the case later.
IMO the worst of the two is Price who as a "mate" should have known that Reardon was going through a messy and emotionally charged separation and talked him out of this ridiculous confrontation, not gone along with it.
As for the quality of the signing, it seems perfectly on our level. Calderwood - Thorman - Reardon. I hope he regains some past form, but I won't be holding my breath.

| The problem with cases like this is that you are never sure of the whole set of facts. Reading the article that was posted earlier it seems very trivial to say the least and it could just be a way for the ex wife to get one up on him. OR it could be worse than stated but that is all they could get to stick due to evidence etc.
There are 4 people who know exactly what went on and they are always going to say what is best for them.
I am not happy with the signing and think it is a joke for the club to sign him after unveiling the campaign on friday, not to mention he has had problems with injuries(deja vu?) But he has signed and now plays for our club and although some people have said they will not get behind him, i am sure they will.

That just seems to back my point up even more, hardly a cv of a rubbish player, for whatever reasons he hasnt become the player that he could have but there is obviously potential there and signing a player who can play in numerous positions (obviously to a high standard) but primarily a position were we are very weak in at the moment, who is 27 and will hopefully have something to prove, on a short term contract is hardly a bad thing for us, there is the court case but im pretty sure that if he does go down the kermit that would be more then enough for the club to be able to terminate any contract that he has signed easily if they wish.

I was just about to say Hell Stuart Thanks for giving us a further insight..I do not condone any act of violence nor would I personally tolerate any..I have been married 23 years and I know marriage and relationships are not all plain sailing, break downs, rejection and alcohol can often lead to unwelcome and regretable actions for all concerned..

| Stuart Reardon could be a good signing. Leaving all of his many obvious problems aside, he was a handy player at both Bradford and Warrington.
You have to look at Warrington though and with Tony Smith on board the changes are already starting to happen. Gleeson and Reardon are both gone, and Mathers is in, ironically a player that played under Smith at Leeds so neither player has been released because of their inability to play, its just that Tony Smith already has a structure in place for the future and they simply dont fit into it.
Coming back to Hull. Tony and Byrne are both out. Craig Hall is doing okay, but he's been given a huge responsibility in a position he is unfamiliar with so in terms of signing Reardon as a squad player, im happy. Just not happy with the other baggage he's bringing to the club which im suprised Hull have over-looked considering everything else that's happen with some of our previous players in recent history.
Rant over.

| Quote ="east hull FC fan"Here here, it's amazing that some people actually think that reardon grabbing his wifes arm and causing 3 bruises is in the same bracket as kicking a man in his head while he's on the floor!! FFS people need some perspective on this issue! also regarding the issue of the balloons being released - that was a stop domestic violence campaign by rehabilitating the offenders. So by that token if we had not signed him just because of his past that would of put egg on the boards face! people are over reacting more than when tommy lee has a bad game!
Reardon has apologised and shown remorse for what he has done, also he has stated that he wants to help the club in there continued community projects. This coupled with the fact he has joined a club miles away from the ex and the area surely shows he wants to start over.
Also, don't be fooled as to why warrington got rid, they wanted him off the payroll and anyone who disagrees and says it was for his actions is fooking stoopid!'"
