| Quote ="WhitewithClover"He's made mistakes,as he's readily admitted in the past, but overall the good far outweighs the bad....he needed extra investment in the club when he sold his interests to Duffen/Bartlett in 2007,that was the plan.Duffen messed up whilst the club was in the Prem, long after Pearson had gone....
Brown got City into the Premier League, making him the most successful manager in the club's history.
And as far as Allam is concerned,a lot of the comments regarding mergers were in relation to his beneficial nature in regards to Hull's sporting teams ("i couldn't buy one club without buying the other" etc) and were taken out of context. His loan to Rovers was an example of that.Anyway,he'd be under no illusion if he tried to purchase the club of it's history, significance to the community and it's identity......but i doubt the previous regime wouldn't have held back in selling him the club on the back of some quotes delivered off the cuff during an interview....
Some of the paranoia exhibited on this board in relation to Allam is alarming.'"

Whilst I could see the point he was trying to make about fullback and loose forward, where it fell down is that he portrayed it as if all RL teams have only one gameplan. That's simply not the case, and our problem arguably isn't our predominant tactics, it's the inflexibility in moving away from our starting gameplan once the game begins. Last Friday was a perfect example. Looks like we'd trained all week to offload as much as possible. Then it ed it down but we didn't think to change our approach when we constantly gave away possession.
Murdoch also wasn't helped when the presenter pointed out the inconsistency in what he'd said. He went from us having a quality squad to the tactics being spot on but the players maybe not performing them well enough. Well it's one or the other, mate. If the players and tactics were both top quality we wouldn't be as bad as we are.

Feeling a bit giddy and instinctively optimistic at the new broom but would feel much better if he'd severed his links with City. Until there is distance the spectre of Allam will loom always.

| Quote ="WormInHand"Come on. At the time everyone thought Duffen was the best thing since sliced bread. The City fans loved him. The Mail did numerous double pages spreads about his commitment to the City and to City.
Even when warning shots were fired like the multi-million "Executive parlour" in the West Stand function bar, the fact that he didn't realize Hull FC existed until he arrived at the stadium and the abolishment of the International games (all and sundry (even fans on here) couldn't see through his lies about "can't commit because of Hull City's fixtures"icon_wink.gif failed to plack the blinkers from peoples eyes.
It was only when the full financial extent of the mess was revealed in the national press that people started to wake up.
While on the other hand - yes he most certainly could. What would be a respectable amount of time?
'"
The thing is, Duffen wasn't the complete moron the poster suggests. Whilst the decision not to include relegation clauses in player contracts was a gaffe of the highest order, the bigger problem seemed to be the agents' fees, and Duffen possibly didn't do too badly out of those.
Either way, I don't personally see why Pearson should be in the least held accountable for the actions of his successors.

| After reading 35 pages, listening to Sports Talk, Humberside news bulletins and even listening to Pearson on talkSport. I can now conclude that Pearson HAS taken over the club and it's not just a "bid" anymore, as the thread title suggests!

| Quote ="Old_Faithful_IAKW"Yet sold Hull City to Duffen? Also, his choices in managers are questionable - Peter Taylor was obviously a good manager but what about Phil Parkinson, (debatedly) Phil Brown, Jan Molby, .
Maybe the BOD wouldn't sell to Allam because of his questionnable conduct and comments about Hull FC with regards to the stadium and mergers?'"
I really cannot see that?
If the BOD who were willing to sell, were offered more money by Allam than what AP offered, do you really think they would have turned it down?
My view is that no matter who the BOD are, if Allam really wanted to buy, then they would all sell at the right price.
I reckon that if Allam wants to buy the club in some future time, t he price will be much higher by then, because imho we are much more likely to have greater on field success under AP, then what we would have had under the old board.

| Well, who can say they saw this one comming?
I would like to thank the outgoing BOD for their support over the last ten years, without whom there would not be a Hull FC today. Cardiff 2005 was a great day for all involved with the club, if only we had capitalised and built on that success.
With regard to Mr Pearson, and his time with Hull City, he has always struck me as man who knows what a 'club' is meant to be about. He always seemed forthright and truthful when dealing with the press rather than being a 'spin doctor' who always tries to play the positive.
We haven't aquired a multi millionaire messiah who will buy us success (ala Wire). He may well only be in it for the money, but there is more money to be made if we are succesful, so it would seem our aims are the same.
Hopefully, we will fulfill our potential and kick on and become the top four club that I, and the rest of the Faithful, deserve.

Chappers isn't avid as I think he's only got a partial interest in the game. Has a soft spot for the area as I think he went to Hull Uni, so I think that's where it comes from.

I think the squad for 2012 is pretty much sorted now.
We know who's going (or soon will ) and we know who we've signed. I would like to see at least one more forward but I'm not sure we will.
The only big change Pearson can make in the short term is the coach.
I'm pleased Rule, Sutton and Flatman are staying. Pearson doesn't know much about RL and despite all the stick he gets I think Rule is a pretty good Chief Exec and may be even better without Kath's malign influence.

| Having had time to think about it I am much more excited than I was to begin with. Still cautious over his links with the Allams but have to take him on his word. The thing is we need to be realistic, there is no magic wand and even if he does sack Agar, which I think is inevitable, there is no certainty that it will bring us success.
I am still concerned that there is no RL knowledge at the club to advise on things like a new coach etc. Having said that AP is a shrewd business man so I assume he will take the necessary steps to rectify the lack of knowledge.
The other thing is recruitment, great news he is willing to put money in but realistically not much will happen next year as our quota spots are full and clubs will want to hang on to their best british players.
All in all good news, potentially great news but we need to be patient.
