You've been to St Petersburg.....then Leningrad. Well done. You'll appreciate then that in comparison to the damage and death in Hull though appalling ( my point about all war which appears to have gone over your head) was occasional in comparison to this and hundreds of other cities through out the world during the second world war.....Dresden, Toyko, London, Gdansk, etc etc etc.
Don't allow posts be belittling the suffering of the French go by then get all outraged about comparisons to Hull´s suffering.
This de humanizing of others leads to the appalling wars that we humans so seem to enjoy.
The current horrific treatment of the Syrians fleeing there current tragedy is down to this psychology. We sit by watching them and their children drown yet get outraged at the word occasional.

How can a cowardly act by a French Rovers player become a ing contest about the atrocities suffered in WW2 and the relative levels of knowledge of history of those entering that doomed debate?

And diving draws 'moral outrage' in RL because it's cowardly and dishonest in a sport that prizes courage and honesty (although it often falls short). Similar outrage is expressed for cheap shots and deliberate attempts to injure.

Thank you. I would suggest you go to St Petersburg not only because it's a beautiful city but you get more of an education of what went on rather than watching the history channel.

No doubt as a student of history you will know that it was St Petersburg - Petrograd - Lenningrad. I sometimes find that the history channel isn't as informative as it could be.

This I find unpleasant. I'm not the only one thankfully.

I try and point out that the French despite 'Banter' and popular myth are indeed not a cowardly nation (none are) and use Hull´s experience in the wars as an example to compare against theirs (a reference that there maybe some common knowledge of on here).
Cue moral outrage on a level way above the criticism of the other vile comments and ignorance some have shown.

I then respond to these outbursts having the hope that some don't see my point because of who I support and I hope to stop further xenophobic outpouring on this thread.

The issue of Mr. Boudebza's height.

The act of diving.....cheating yes on occasion, sometimes done to avoid dangerous contact yes, deceitful yes on occasion, cowardly no.

There are despicable acts on a rugby field...see Chris Burton, Ben Westwood, Ben Flower (cowardly and sadistic punching an unconscious man) etc etc. The coaching and condoning of pressure on joints which endanger fellow players. I don't see Briscoe or Hunte jumping to address these issues yet someone diving does. Weird.
I used his height as an obvious 'measure' for his personal questionable courage.

All combat sports and many others have weight categories. Why because weight and height brings huge advantages (ask Conner McGregor). Seeing Boudebza tackle very effectively the likes of Pritchard etc leads me to think he is a brave man.

I was saddened by our defeat but not as much by some of the comments on here.

Shocking from Boudebza. I would give him a 1 match ban as the RFL need to nip this sort of antic in the bud. Football attitudes are creeping into our game unfortunately. (Bateman throwing a tantrum against Widnes , Sneyd haranguing the linesman also v Widnes) Don't need it.

There was no need to start drawing comparisons with war - there are no moral winners in war, merely enforced bravery and suffering on all sides. Your analogy was embarrassing and your reaction suggests you're the sort of person who would run to fetch a sledgehammer when a picture falls off the wall.

I work for a French company and the lads over there know me as "le rost boeuf". I could tell them I think that they're xenophobic but instead I just have a laugh and banter with them as I wouldn't want to look like a prick. It would be false outrage anyway a bit like our loser from the east.
