The chances are Crooks or Yeaman will be missing a few games and Arundel gives us good cover, I don't know what he earns, what would be the point in releasing him now? Is there any available players better? Colbons not and we can afford them all under the cap.

With Crookes injured and no sign of Biggs, makes sense to have some experienced cover. Stark still 12 months away IMO.

Even without injuries Arundel can push for a place IMO. Yeaman looked much better than last year against Catalan, but if his form goes back to like last year I'd personally give Arundel a go. Likewise if Crooks misses tackles for fun like on Friday his place should also come under threat. I think it's far from cut and dried who are our 2 best centres.

I am not sure about Colbon either but like any new player at the club he deserves a chance at least. To write him off already at a new club with a different set up and culture is just crazy. I like the way Radders is going about things and not playing players out of position, which as been our downfall in recent years. Yeamo certainly looked better on Friday night than he did last season and I believe Radford said that he hadn't been enjoying his rugby under Gentle? Hopefully that means Yeaman can now keep up the kind of performance he gave on Friday night.

I personally think that Crooks is better than Arundel but it's good that we now have depth in the squad (not just at centre but in all positions) that if someone's form dips that they can be replaced and there is someone waiting to take their chance.

When he played for us I thought he had a reasonable/decent first season, he is more like a second rower so although not that pacey is quite strong on exit sets and not too bad close to the opposition line.

He wasn't the same after getting his jaw broken, in that he seemed to lose a bit of confidence and made some errors particularly under the high ball. It moved him from being a solid unspectacular winger to just an unspectacular winger.

Our backup winger is likely to be Caro, so I can't say that Colbon is bad as far as back ups go. Although Alex Brown would have likely been a better option for both clubs.

Well said. Too many times we make up our minds about a player before they've even played. Look at Thompson last week. Some people didn't even want him in the team and had written him off yet he scored a cracking try with his first touch of the ball.

I always liked Colbon but his lack of pace was his undoing for a winger, as was said earlier in this thread his form plummeted after his broken jaw and that saw him targeted by kickers. Solid pro all the same just a surprising signing. Does one of your 1st choice wingers have an injury that may be worse than feared?

Jason Crookes (not that I would say he's first choice) is out injured but I have no idea how long for. Anyone else shed any light on this?

Not good enough for rovers or london, i know people say arundel isnt a winger but he has more pace ,younger, and would give him game time, hopefully colbon wont be even needed, imo still think arundel could do a job on the wing, i like the kid and think given the chance could be a good centre for us in the years to come,

Colbon as a replacement for Crookes i wouldn't have a problem with however. He let the club down before even pulling on the shirt.

Comments like these are based on no more than the romantic sentiment that the club can produce a string of players through the ranks.

Out recruitment & retainment is baffling at times. Tom Briscoe had a contract pulled away as he took too long weighing up his options. We were led to believe that this money was allocated for a replacement or other recruits. Before people start I know Lineham got an upgrade etc.

So we've replaced an international with one who has been out of the game as a dust man, one who has never been in the game and another who couldn't get a club!

I don't know what players are on but I'm guessing Biggs won't be leaving union for pittance & Talanoa didn't fly halfway across the world for nothing. We can't be far off paying what we'd have paid Briscoe?

Only one can play at a time as Lineham is a shoe-in so we appear to have wasted the chance to strengthen in other areas.
