In both cases it's an option, not an obligation, you can always keep your money in your pocket if you can't really afford it and that's fair enough.
And in response to earlier in the thread, I'm one of those who reached the point of staying away and am back to being a passholder this year.'"

I see what you're saying, but I don't think that's how everyone is getting to the costs being mentioned, and surely as an out-of-towner you're one of the exceptions?
I fully appreciate the costs of travel for some, but with respect that's not something that I think the club can be held responsible for given that it's people's free choice as to where they live.
IMO the only matchday costs it is fair to hold the club in any way responsible for are the tickets themselves, everything else is ancillary/optional/of your own making. Yes, some tickets are overpriced, but I just think people are going over the top with how much so. I'd say that whilst it is by no means cheap, £50 for a family of 4 isn't [ithat[/i bad.

Last year was the first season at the KC I didn't get a season ticket, enough was finally enough. 2010 was probably the most miserable I've ever been watching Hull, it was a chore rather than a pleasure. The last game I went to last season was Crusaders at home, and even though we won it was just the same old problems but papering over the cracks against a poor side.

I don't think £50 is unreasonable for a family of 4, I'm just saying that I've had to miss one game already this season because I couldn't afford the ticket price plus the travel costs at that time. I'm not calling for a reduction in ticket prices particularly, merely supporting the view that a not-insignificant proportion of the stay-away fans may be staying away for factors other than the success or otherwise of the team.
That being said, I went very little last year, and when I did go, I went with extended family members who would have gone anyway. This season, I've taken my wife, my son and one of my son's friends to most home games (plus the Cas away game), so the club has actually gained four supporters that weren't in attendance most weeks last year.

There already is a family season pass, as I recall. I just couldn't run to the £500 or so needed to buy one just before Christmas. Don't think they could do a pint and pie one as they don't take any money from the food/drink, as far as I'm aware.

Never realised you did a family pass, scrap that idea.
I don't think the pie n pint pass is a bad idea, obviously no good for Hull though.

The price of our pies and pints, it'd probably double the cost of the pass. And I don't know anyone who would like to commit to eating/drinking that swill every single game!

| wow Hull FC fans in another "gotta find something to whinge about" shocker !!!
FFS over the last few years almost every fan in black and white has called for a massive change, we have not only had that but we have had added to that new players, clear cash influx from the new gaffer all over the show and on top of that he has just signed one of the top players on the planet to show HIS commitment to the cause yet some on here think him wrong to ask for support in return???? thats just unhinged to me
however those breadline fans who cant afford to come will no doubt be watching the match on their flat screen tvs or in the pub watching with a few slurps
like i said, everything is going to exactly the plan everyone wanted for the last two years so what can we complain about next eh???
Think some FC have got into a bad habit of Bittchin about stuff and cant break that habit no matter what happens
open the curtains guys its a new dawn

So people should not have a TV and support Hull instead? Let's be realistic. There will be some fans who watch the game in the pub, but there will be some who genuinely can't afford to go. That's not to say that ticket prices should be reduced, but there's no getting away from the fact that it's an expensive day out.

As I've said numerous times, the attendances will grow alongside our success. I believe Pearson has the club in his best interest.

Completely agree, but some are/were moaning about unnecessary costs. Once you've bought your ticket the rest is optional (obviously not taking into account the minority that live out of town).

That's certainly true, but even if you just bought a family ticket and walked to the ground, it'd still be £50. Not unreasonable for a family of 4 to see a top level sporting event, but still pricey if you're out of work or on a low income.

Don't disagree, and I don't think anybody else does. But if it's not unreasonable and you still can't afford to go then it's just unfortunate. Prices are comparable at worst and at £19 for the south stand bloody good value. I don't think there are that many that [iCan't[/i afford to go, just those that don't because they can't make a night/day of it like they used to be able to.

It is, but equally, it offers an explanation as to why [isome[/i of the absent fans haven't returned. Of there are the ones who stopped coming when things became unbearable under Kath/Agar who haven't seen fit to return yet, but I reckon a few would like to go but can't - or at least not every week.

Dunno about that. It's hard for families particularly when you consider the £50 minimum cost for them to attend.

| I think the club needs to do more to attract fans back to the club, going to RL is a habit and once someone has broken out of the habit it is hard to get them back. Also some fans who have stopped attending may be unaware of the improvements we have made, last weeks result against Bradford for example looked a narrow win on paper, but in reality it was one of the most positive attacking games we've seen from Hull in years and was a good game to watch.
we need to look at what Wigan have done over the last 2-3 seasons with their 'big one' ticket offers, where they target a game with cheap prices and giveaway tickets to major local employers.
games such as the next two coming up (Wigan and Leeds) are exactly the kind of games we should be targeting, and I'd include offering cheap tickets to away fans as part of the promotion.
I also wonder if offering a small discount for tickets bought in advance (a system used by many SL clubs) would help, as then fans would buy early and would still attend despite injury crises (this week) bad weather (Wire and Wakefield games) and wouldn't be tempted by non-rugby events at last minute.
