Well, regardless I would still from outside looking in consider 2 playoffs last 2 seasons decent. Not groundbreaking but steady. I will however have a more experienced opinion come end of this SL.

What is good for a small club with little ambition like wakey compared to what the fans of Hull demand and should be getting is miles apart and this club was up there with the big boys until Agar took us over and dragged us down.

The fact remains that Agar took us backwards as a club, in performance, attitude and direction. Fans' expectations [ishould[/i be through the roof. Like Carney said on Boots N All this week, we have one of the biggest fan bases in the league, the best stadium and a rich amateur game in the city. Top 4 should be a minimum for a club like Hull.

It is now up to Gentle/Pearson/Bomber to pick up the pieces and begin the rebuilding process.

No point making the playoffs if on the day you are going to put in a limp, lifeless display and get well beaten (as we did twice, even once at home to our biggest rivals)

Also to add to the Agar hall of shame was being knocked out of the cup at the first hurdle to Salford at home, in fact we haven't actually beaten an SL side in a knock-out game since we beat Wakefield 4 years ago at Doncaster.

I have no problem with Agar as a person. He was there doing a job under the terms of his contract. He wasn't what we needed or indeed the right man for the job but to be fair to him that's the problem of the people who put him there and kept him there.

He was out of his depth, at the time often lacked a plan A never mind a plan B, and made interchange decisions that were baffling at best...

...however from what I saw, he never disrespected the club, always tried (even after countless failures) and did what he thought was the best thing for the club at the time.

There are many others who I have more reason to disrespect than him.

I think wakey have more ambition with the new owner on board but obviously that won't match the ambitions of the hull club just yet,

As a wakey fan I would be happy to nip in at playoffs these next few years and if agar achieves that he will have done his job well.

Whether agar can take us above that level after that remains to be see. As he failed that at hull. But I would hope he has learned somethi g to improve from that experience.

Hull are mid table and rightly so should have ambitions for top 4 with a good fan base and good roster but breaking the top four is no easy task. I wish you luck with that though.

i think you should concentrate on breaking into the top six before you talk about the top 4

Back when Rugby League Raw was on tv, and you saw the behind the scenes team talks etc, Agar seemed VERY uninspiring. I was never comfortable with him as head coach, and would describe him as average. I don't however, believe he is responsible for our decline since our challenge cup success. I think our recruitment/retention policy at all levels has been abysmal. I really don't believe any coach in SL could have achieved any real success with the squad available.

He wasn't the only one to blame that is for sure. Sharp made a few duff signings before he left, but in defence of both Sharp and Agar we don't know how much interference the board were having in transfer dealings or what budget they were making available (Pearson has made a few comments that made me believe we weren't actually spending the full salary cap the last few years)

We lost key players like Swain, Cooke, McMenemy, Carvell...and brought in Todd Byrne, Chris Thorman, the perennially injured Dykes and numerous other dubious signings.

Unlike your lot, our ambitions are somewhat higher than merely finishing above our neighbours.

Yes we are re-building but Wakey are not even at the foundation stage yet. Not an off-handed slur against Wakey, but they are poor.

In that case let's hope you achieve your lofty ambitions and we achieve our more modest ones.

The away coach normally sits at the back of the directors box, not far from my seat. Didn't see Agar there yesterday, or making his way up the stand like all the other coaches do. I wasn't going to boo him but wonder if he sat elsewhere to avoid anything

His press conference was classic Agar,he was almost claiming some sort of moral victory and talked up their performance as if they'd really caused us problemsand seemed to genuinely beleive what he was saying. I saw very few positives apart from their defence which was ok. I've seen them live twice this year and they've been poor on both occasions.
Contrast that with Gentle who wasn't happy at all and merely accepted the performance and result but was at pains to point out that everything they'd practiced during the week more or less had to be shelved due to the conditions and the game plan revamped majorly in the changing rooms beforehand.

I think Will Sharp spoke for us all yesterday, by showing Agar what he is capable of achieving in the hands of a genuine coach.
