To be honest, all of this is getting quite boring now. Craig Murdock said on Sports Talk last night that we don't necessarily need halfback cover because if Long and Horne are fit we have 'one of the best halfback pairings in Super League'. I have a lot of time for Criag but don't quite agree with him on that. Fair enough, Long and Horne could play 27 games each next season but can anoyone honestly see that happening? Also, we don't really have a fullback if Rich has decided that Tansey is no longer the man. Yes, people keep saying that Rich Whiting can play there, and yes he can. However, he's not a specialist fullback and that's where it all falls down. If Rich didn't think Tansey was going to be his automatic choice for this season then maybe he should have signed Richie Mathers. He's a fullback who plays at fullback and doesn't fill in anywhere else. Take a look at the top three or four teams and they have specialist fullbacks, not just people 'who can play there'.

To be honest its my opinion he is a flash in the pan player to be honest ,above average with bursts of brilliance and as with Rob Burrow now most teams have got their measure and know how to deal with them just my opinion though but certainly not what we need at present dave your dead right..

Yes he does thats correct plus much more stuff in his cabinet too but i personally (note i said I) think most of that is down to being in a champion side!!

ollie you are wrong, hull enquired about chase and that is one of the main reasons why the chairman has come out. i understand how you can be SURE something has happened, but it is much more difficult to be SURE something hasnt happened, you just may not know about it.

Fair point on Tomkins but is he a 1 or a 6? Either way, he's better than we have in either position. I like Whiting, but he's too pedestrian to be a fullback.

I agree I think Whiting is a safe option for full back as cover but not the answer. I would however not be against Whiting getting a go in the number 6 shirt at some point.

Well with a lot of clubs choosing to play a prop at 13 and use their full back as a pivot it feels a natural progressing that 1 and 6 become a very similar role when in attack.

Yes from 2012. Didnt realise we were talking post-Horne/Long. In the now Eastmond isnt what we need. In 2012 next to Cronk he'd do very nicely.

I'd say Saint where guilty of rushing him back and overplaying him . He was certainly brought back to early from injury from last season.

Similar to Danny Brough when we got him.
