Yes it is a fantastic site,i've been looking on there randomly for a few years now, some of the pics in the old mental hospitals are positively scary. I also like the underground sewer type ones under our major cities. They're braver people than me,or more stupid.

I went in on one of these nights , A few of us were off to see England play in Poland and the coach was due about 2ish outside Tower ,so we went for a couple . Not knowing it was stripper night , we where quite surprised to see 3 "women" on the stage performing what can only be described as a stage version of Thriller. Everyone in the place was p155ing themselves. Comedy value 10 out of 10 . I never went again though , The emotional scars were just to much to take again.

That was the nights they used to have a strip off when any 'girls' in could come on stage and have a competition strip off against each other, the winner taking a £25 prize. It was like a stripping version of Karaoke. There were some rough sights on that stage, 5 girls got up, 4 of them were butt naked by the time the first verse had ended dancing around uncomfortably for the next 2 mins.. some very unusual sights in there on those nights..

Sounds about right, The second one just left the stage and went straight to the bar ...butt naked.

Thought I would add to this thread to say that the new LA's opens down Malton Street (witham) on December 4th. (check out the facebook group) apparently the owner of Jack rabbits paid out for alot of the old LA's stuff before it was knocked down and has tried to recreate it. Also if there's anyone need a job in this industry then they are holding interviews at Jack Rabbits next week

There is still lots to do late on in Hull, in recent months since my release back into the world of alcohol I have re discovered it all. The old town is cracking for us older ones and everyone mixes well, the new drinking rules seem to have a better effect on the us old ones who can now enjoy our beer over a longer period of time.

Witham is a good night out plenty of pubs catering to everyones tastes and again a good atmosphere, I have never felt threatened or seen any unpleasantness. The world moves on and I do think Hull has improved since the days when I went to Locarno, Spencers, Earl de grey, Broadway, Yorkshireman, White Lion, Manchester and Trog bar when abuse, fighting and getting legless where a way of life.

Indeed it is reopening in the old school house.
Yes it is being done by the owner of Jack Rabbit Slims.

Haven't read all of the thread, so I don't know if I'm the first to say this, but Hull has always been a crap night out. I'm not a big fan of the whole nightclub scene anyway, but places like Leeds, York and Newcastle seem a much better night out than Hull ever has.

On the last occasion I was in there (a work's do), I can't honestly remember much about my visit. It had clearly been a good night. However, I remember a chap in the gents politely suggesting I keep away from his 'bird' (his ex, who I had no interest in, I can assure you of that). 2 minutes later, another one of our group came out of the same toilet, and without saying a word he picked me up off the seat by my throat, marched me down the stairs, into a taxi and we went home. Never told me why, but I always assumed it was for the good of my health...

I don't think it is a crap night out.
I've been in a lot of town/city centres where you don't get anywhere near the flange count.

A lot worse than Hull, although I agree about York.

You've seen my moves

Only been going out regularly about 5 years but it's changed even in that time. Fridays used to be generally quite steady round city centre but it's dead now, e.g. there has been the odd time down George Street when Dram has been the only place open.

In terms of clubs I think there's only Spiders & Piper that can regularly draw on a Friday, although from what I've heard Princes Ave is busy, + was down Cott Road/Newland Ave a few weeks ago and that area seems to be doing okay.



On Saturdays it sounds like Sugarmill and Pozition do well in town, rest of city centre is quite busy, was in Old Town on Sat and there looked plenty of people about. Spiders still does well on Saturdays, Welly I hear also does (not been for a few years), think that's probably it really for clubs.

Re good places to drink there's a few 'hidden gems' round the outskirts of the city centre that I prefer to town itself these days e.g. New Clarence, Hop & Vine, Wellington (Russell Street one) and Lamp to name a few.





New places like Hollywood & Vine are trying to get going (and offer somewhere different), presumably though it must be hard these days with all the factors like the smoking ban and cheap supermarket offers. Adelphi also deserves credit for managing to keep going through so many years of changing trends and financial hardship in Hull.
