Bono's pontifications stick in my craw. Oh and the last LP was a dud. Each to there own, I'd rather seek out new music and support smaller bands than fund U2 PLC. As I said, been there done that (Wembley 86). TBH if they play Glasto next year, as is highly rumoured, I'll be at another stage on the site seeing someone I haven't seen before.

I was at that gig too.
Great night, pi$$ed down and Cast were fantastic as the support band.

There are many people like you , always looking for new bands , camping out at Adelphi etc.
Then there are people like me who have followed U2 since 1983 and think there only poor albums were Rattle and Hum and Pop.
The latest album is awesome but when you have followed a band for 26 years you 'grow' with their music as they indeed do.
This tour is probably one of their best and they only play a fraction of the old stuff ie 3 songs from Joshua Tree 2 from Unforgettable Fire and 1 from War.
For me following U2 is like following Hull FC - blind enjoyable loyalty.

Neither is wrong , if we were all the same we would be robots.
Some people are always looking for the next big thing and then move on after a couple of years as there is some real energy in new material ie Stone Roses , Strokes , Arctic Monkeys even early Duran !. Early UB40 and Madness were awesome but I can't listen to anything after and inc Red Red wine or Our House. BUT I have always always enjoyed/adored U2 as I have in the same way as Hull FC .

i have been & massive fan of u2 from around 83 the same as you (live under a blood red sky album got me hooked) . even r&h is good if you remove the live tracks (seems to make it disjointed) & pop has some really good dance/electronic stuff , just seems a little too far removed from their normal music style . their new album is mostly great as well . i just cannot do with open air stadium gigs anymore , so gave them a miss this time round .

| U2 were on top form last satdy at wembley, people can slate them all they want but they are the masters. If i had one criticism however, is i like gigs to be ruff round the edges, U2 are so clinical you could shut your eyes and you would think your listenin to a CD but i go now to their concerts and expect near perfection which doesnt bother me one bit.
Roll on Glasto, would expect them to be there next year.

| Me and the wife went to U2 at Sheffield and to be fair I enjoyed they concert on the whole.
There was a couple of things that caused irritation; Bono and his 'I am jesus' role and the fact I don't like open air concerts.

Bono is the wealthiest Big Issue seller and I thought Sheffield was tame compared to other tours for his ranting.
U2 , by own admission , prefer indoor arenas. I saw them at Earls Court in 2001 and it was unbelieveable !
Saw them in Brixton in 1984 when only 2000 there , now that was cool

| Quote ="Standee"Oasis' music is very personal, which does lend itself to smaller venues as you say, U2 like to put on a show (and do it incredibly well).
Best gig ever was Alanis Morisette at Hull Truck long before she "made it" (where has she gone, by the way)'"
After playing god in Dogma, I think she realised she had gone as far as she could go!
