There are several others on here also who are too easily pleased.
I am gutted we have just lost a semi final match yet there is hardly any disappointment showing on here.
Warrington were the better side overall but our kicking game from Sneyd in particular was rubbish.
Still cant get over that team selection

seems a strange one with green behind fash and lane, could have shuffled the pack around to accommodate him,, kelly from the bench also is a handful against a fatigued side ,

Not easily pleased just honest at where we are, I'm disappointed we all are, but being a sore loser doesn't help anyone, I remember the wires and st helens clapping us when we beat them in the semis, that's the way it should be, as we know we have weaknesses in the pack which are being addressed, as you don't get us happy clappers I don't get the ones who dissect the team every time we lose, its sport, take it on the chin when we get beat by a better team on the day, we would all like to win every game, but I agree on team selection, why lane and fash get the nod above green is odd

No I also feel nauseous too, so full of their own self importance, it's unreal.
Sorry dull2524 for not posting sooner.
Plenty of effort there from the lads but not enough finesse in attack, Warrington's kicking game was exemplary but no need to repeat what has already been said.
No need to tell anyone how shoite we were either, as you put it.
I'd tell everyone however what an annoying tool you are but think most people already know that.
Disappointed yes, but not too distraught at the result.
Let's hope today spurs the team on for a real tilt at the GF starting on Thursday and unlike Barista I'm not writing the team off for that game.

| Disappointing display from Hull save from a spell in the first half. Even when we pulled it back to 16-14 I wasn't too confident that we'd go on and win it. Warrington were much better and we just didn't have the territory in the second half. We'd labour our way up to halfway then put in a poor kick and Wire would be in a good field position at the start of their set.
I have to say that unlike other recent semis I wasn't in the least nervous before the game and I don't feel any crushing devastation at missing out on Wembley. It just doesn't feel like our year. Hopefully next year with a stronger squad we can offer a stronger challenge.
Good luck to Warrington at Wembley, they came with a game plan and executed it brilliantly. Better team won.

Not really, they both own their won ground, are self sufficient and generating profits which allow them to invest in their squads
As for the game, I thought radford got his team selection wrong. green should have played. Anyone who thinks fash offers more than green wants to go and see their doctor. connor should have started at centre and griffin in the 2nd row with lane on the bench with green, ellis and bowden. hadley is better than lane but he's also on the naughty step with litten and green
We desperately need to improve our defensive line speed and aggression. wire were charging in, denying us easy metres whereas we just stand and wait for the opposition. It was that which ultimately won the game on the back of consistently good field position. look at the number of times sneyd was taken out when kicking the ball compared to austin.
It also annoys the hell out of me that our forwards do significantly less work with the ball than most opponents. We have props with 5 or 6 carries a game when opposition ones are doing 2 or 3 times as much work. We rely too much on backs for carries out of our 20 and wire today showed how easy that is to control. When needed cooper and hill were taking 1 or 2 carries a set out of their end
connor looked like he was sulking and was pretty poor overall but thought everyone else had a real go but at times we looked like a disorganised rabble and never really got into the game. We need some forwards who put in a real shift and who enjoy aggressive offense and defence. Hopefully those coming in will bring this.
It's really frustrating that despite all that and lots of dropped ball, we still could have won it had butter fingers minihello not dropped that ball on the 2nd tackle with 3 minutes left

| I forgot to say it was poor to take those 2 kicks at goal early on when we had wire on the rack. IMO we could have scored both times or at least looked for repeat sets and why was sneyd kicking the ball into touch on the last tackle early on it the game instead of putting in attacking kicks? Far too negative for me

Your first post was a good one, this one better. Slow defensively, negative kicks, and stupidly taken the 2 points when in a position to apply real pressure

| Very proud of our team today, without scape goats, and against a good Wire side who kept the pressure on almost continuously in the second half, we wouldn’t give up, and as fractious as we played, we could have won it. Terrible weather, couldn’t stop a great game unfolding, congratulations to the Wire, good luck in the final.

Agree, just seen this on Twitter from a Saints fan. I think it's 13 not 14, but sentiment the same and good context.
"Since the start of the 2016 season, Hull FC have played 14 challenge cup games and only lost twice.
In that run of matches they’ve only played one team outside of Super League, Featherstone.
Unreal stats. Beaten by the better team today. Some fans are proper doom and gloom."
As you say, pride in yesterday's performance, disappointment but full respect to a very good Warrington side. Another good cup campaign from us.

At no point in the game did we have Wite on the rack !
Plenty of effort yesterday, but our execution and inability to defend a high kick cost us.
This was highlighted near the end when we forced a dropout. Then , guess what ? Dropped the ball !
Our pack is a spent force , they laid no platform to work from .

Good post, effort was there, just fine margins, overall we defended well, forfar half I thought we were the better side, should have gambled from the penalty.
Earlier in the season they put 70 points on us, since the we have beaten them and run them very close, they have a marquee player and higher cap than us, we are only 2 points off them in the league.
Backs are fine and look stronger next season, pack needs freshing up with too many old and inconsistent players, the 4 additions, a hopefully fully fit Savelio and youngsters more experienced will improve us next year.
Personally think the club is moving in the right direction.
All about 2nd place now

| Can't fault the effort from our players today. We gave it everything, but came up with too many errors in the poor conditions. That happens sometimes, it's rugby league. It's unpredictable. Don't like the criticism Minichiello is getting. He made an error at a crucial time; he was unlucky. Other than that, he ran his socks off at times where our go-forward lacked.
It's easy to criticise the two goal kicks at the start when looking back in hindsight. The first one was definitely the correct choice. Had he made the one before half time, we'd have gone in all square. He's scored that many crucial 2 pointers, I won't cry about missing one.
The only thing that disappointed me were the d***head "fans" behind the sticks that spat their dummies out at the end when they scored. I hope every single one of them that threw things onto the pitch is banned. People like them are the reason other clubs think we're scum and there's no place in the sport for them. Wouldn't be surprised if we copped a fine for it and quite frankly we deserve one.

Well said.
There are far too many knee jerk comments on this thread. According to some if you don’t say we were crap then you are easily pleased
To all the doom merchants out their, so you think St Helens fans slated their team and coach after we did a job on them in the 05 semi? No, quite the opposite, they applauded Hull for an outstanding display. Well, warrington did to Hull what we did to St’s 14 years ago. Pegged us back near our own line on a monotonous basis and capitalised on a couple of our errors. What’s more, they executed that virtually perfectly.
I cannot think of a single team who would be chucking the ball around for fun when within their own 20 yards line when the ball is wet and like a bar of soap, yet the grand tacticians sat behind the key boards are saying that’s what’s we should have done. Warrington did not allow us field position, simple as.
Not blaming Hick for the result, but we found it hard to make much ground as wire were offside at just about every play. Hicks gave just one offside all day (Sneyd season first successful kick) I just think he wanted to let the game flow and credit to him for that. Hull were not smart enough to encroach further themselves.
Having watched the game back there were a couple of things which didn’t go our way. Shaul being pinged for a knock on after his long break (ball clearly goes backwards) and the three occasions that Sneyd was flattened after kicks should have warranted yellow card as well as a penalty. Not sure why we went for a kick at goal just before half time. There were 90 seconds left and, as it proved it was hardly a sitter. A kick to touch, start a set 25 from their line which had enough time to see through would have been a better option.
We lost, the better team on the day won. Disappointed but it’s not the end of the world, like a crestfallen few on this thread would like to make out.

| As said by most on here, the best team on the day won.
To those who are criticising the coach for his team selection. Two individual errors in our 20 lead to 12 points, they had nothing to do with team selection, and, probably, cost us the game.
Yes it's disappointing to lose in a semi, and this understandably, leads to some of the posts on here becoming personal.
As someone else has said, in this situation it's better to show a little class, and applaud the opposition, as opposed to resorting to fighting amongst ourselves.

The irony of this being posted by someone who in all likelihood will be on here Thursday telling us all how Wigan are a much better side than us and getting beat by them and finishing 6th will constitute a good season.
