Well before Agar took over, Peter Sharp wanted to re-sign Mat Head who was very keen to stay but that was overruled by James Rule. Mat tweeted that recently.

Letting go of Head was the right decision IMO, replacing him with Dykes wasn't.

Hard to say. He couldn't train and his fitness was a concern but if we could've got him fit over the off season I think he would've been great in 2008. He only missed one game in the 12 he was here, IIRC. Far better % record than Dykes or Long

Dykes was clearly a good player on his day, but it was also very clear that his medical must have been done by Conrad Murray or Dr Nick from The Simpsons!

We have to hope that Seymour is finally the fit every week Half Back we have been waiting for. Knowing HullFC there will be a last minute visa or injury drama though!

As long as the deal was in Hull's favour appearance wise Head would have been no lesser risk then Dykes and he played a major part in taking Hull up to 4th in 2007 without him we would have struggled to make the play offs.

Head actually played first grade for West Tigers in 2010 after leaving Hull.

And people wonder why we've struggled when we've pinned our hopes on crocked half backs staying fit

Just comparing the release of Head to be replaced by Dykes. The 2008 overseas signings were all wrong IMO and set us back a good few years.

I remember in May 2007 Peter Sharp saying he was interested in signing a young fringe player called Jamie Soward. I wonder why we never did push the boat out and sign him and instead settled for an injury plagued Dykes? Could have made a massive difference to Sharps tenure in hindsight.

LOL no one in rugby league has the money! He turned down $4mill a year to stay with his previous French club, he wanted to play n NZ and fullfill his dream of playing for the All Blacks and he only felt he could do this playing the the Super15.
