He's a professional rugby player. That's what they do. Play for the highest bidder/best deal that suits them if they can get it. He's said to be very active in the community for the club. He has a brain evidenced by his playing career being so good for a pretty average player and the fact that he has a business to fall back on as well. On top of that he's already coached and had some success and evidently isn't someone to mess with. I've never seen him not trying when playing for us , he always seems to put the effort in to me regardless of his limitations. When he was captain he just looked too knackered to speak so clearly not ideal but coaching won't involve getting battered for 40 to 60 minutes. I've no idea whether he'll be any good in the role and have concerns that he'll be coaching some long standing mates but I don't see anything that he's done as being anti FC or that should mean he shouldn't be considered. And if it means we get more space on the cap and can get a better player in then what's not to like?

No offence but Rugby players are different from the average shop worker. I'd suggest they have a lot more respect for each other than shop workers do.

2) In his last year, Fitzigbbon was captain of the actual WORST team in the NRL, would you have him as our assistant?

as for coaching, don't really give a to$$ who the assistants are, Gentle will be in charge, and Radford can't be any less effective than Webster and Last were.

No if he retires and see's his last year out as an assistant coach but also adds another two years on his contract he could easily be the man to succeed Gentle.

If we are appointing Radford as our new assistant coach just to get him off the playing staff them I am seriously worried about new coaching team.

An assistant coach is very important to succeeding in SL, the right appointment needs to be made, not sure if Radford is that man, but is better than some of the other names I have heard, guess we will have to wait and see.

TBH I see Radford as a good candidate for the role in the Youth/Acadamy development within the club rather than a full on first team assistant coach.

I was thinking the same, we're not a learning establishment, we are a professional RL club, the lower leagues are there for people to learn their trade.

Can't see that being the case under Pearsons owership of the club and certainly not in just 3 years. From what i've seen and heard from Pearson since he first arrived in Hull years ago he has always said the Coach/Manager is one of the most important figures within a club.

I think Radford will be part of a bigger coaching setup than we've had in recent times (if he is to become an assistant), people are assuming Gentle will only stay 3 years, if he's successful AP may have the funds to keep him at the club longer term.

No, unless SL to lower leagues then back up is the path we want to look at.
