"Salford also say that they will arrange a meeting with the local Council when they return from their festive break to discuss how to maximise revenue opportunities off the back of the new stadium deal, creating another urgently-needed cashflow avenue."
Must be an incredible new stadium deal, just how much are they planning to make off Bar sales with their low crowds?
Big failure from IMG, the franchise system was an opportunity to demote them, all the players contracts would be null and void and likely a lot of the diehard support would have kept going in the Championship. Toulouse or Bradford could have had their turn in the SL sun instead.

| The big question is how have Salford been able to get away with such a very poor business plan in spending what they simply haven’t got or been guaranteed with the so called IMG & RFL scrutiny and auditing.
Unless they get a serious takeover they are screwed. Feel bad for the players, staff and fans as their club have dropped them and buried them in a huge hole.
Serious questions need to be asked about the governing body & IMG and their inability to do auditing. If they’d been audited thoroughly and correctly then they should have been removed from SL end of last season & replaced, this isn’t something that’s just happened over night.
Really is worrying times for the game in this country when it’s run by amateurs.

| Toulouse missed out on super league by 0.38 points, they must be really annoyed after seeing what's happened with Salford. The fact Img didn't spot this puts into question their whole methodology of sustainability/how to grow the sport too

Maybe the MKM's TV screens were so bad they damaged the auditors eyesight

| As I've said several times they should have come clean at the end of last season but they have pulled the wool over everyone's eyes hoping for a miracle without being realistic about their situation. I can't now see em surviving myself and if they do it will be a poor team that they can field. Having to raise £800,000 from either transfer fees or saved wages leaves them crippled.
However, had they been honest and thrown themselves on the mercy of the other clubs they could have gone down with a sort of parachute whip round and we could have got Toulouse or Bradford into Super League with time to build a team of sorts. Now it's apparent that the other clubs have little sympathy for their demise and are exacting some tough justice. As I say their poor fans what a disaster. It does however beg the question who will be next?

Wonder what half back we'll go after?

| forget Sneyd, was always a long shot him moving his family back over to Hull/Brough.....i feel we got the best out of him in those two challenge cup wins, be unfair to put pressure on him to try and replicate that again.

| Re Salford - there's a strong possibility they'll be relegated if they finish bottom this year. Will mean they'll lose enough IMG points to be overtaken by one of Toulouse or Bradford (possibly whoever wins the Championship).

| Be under no illusion we are still short
of a Top Class centre and it will show this season and next until we rectify this
We are short of pace and strength at Centre yet it’s a critical position in the team
Cross will have to do I suppose
Prop is also another position we are light and need one more dynamic player and hopefully Sao Lane Fash can move on somehow next season so we can replenish properly there in the front row and wherever Lane plays
And yep we need a 6 for this season as well
I don’t like Sneyd signing for us
It’s clear we need PACE in our backs and we can’t have slow centres and slow half backs
We are in a rebuild but Salfords sorry woes give us a small window to address 1-2 positional issues a season early

| Which players could we realistically sign from Salford that would improve us and we need?
Cross is one, could Brieley do a job at 6?
Bullock, but we have plenty of props ad it stands.

I’d have loved us to sign a more dynamic 6 but we were in for Lam, Sailor and Sullivan. Sailor I think will tear up SL and was hoping knowing Cartwright might have swung it, but for the player Saints is a no brainer at the minute. Hopefully something becomes available mid season, situations change fast.
Looking at the squad numbers 1-17 I agree we lack pace in the backline. But again, things change throughout a season and a backline of 1 Moy, 2 Barron, 3 Rapana, 4 Cross, 5 Martin becomes one of if not the fastest in the league, hearing good things about Moy in pre season and the clubs social media seem to be keen on posting him, think Cartwright is planning to use him that could re shape the backline and adds some pace straight away.

Won't happen but would like to see Watkins here. Still a top class player, super professional and would give us options at centre and back row.

Me too, but think Warrington and Leeds will be in pole position, so I'd put that down as unrealistic.

| Apparently the quota exemption is much more likely to pass. Don’t think it means much for us. Don’t think we’ll go for Stone, Nikorima could be interesting but doesn’t pass the worked with Cartwright test like the other overseas recruits and is hardly proven. Lafai and Marsters maybe think we’ll stick with Cross as our centre target.

| Cross and Nikorima would be good pick ups.
But is Nikorima worth more than a one year deal, as he would take up our last quota spot for 2026?

| Nikorima was linked to us last year. He's probably worth a one year deal and then he can prove his worth.
Issue is clubs are in a predicament as to when the quota exemption will apply and for how long.
Fact is we can't go into the season with Sezer and Cust. Then Charles and Kemp as back up. It scuppered us last year!

If they're considering quota exemptions it doesn't make much sense for it just to be for the one year. I would say two to three years which at least gives clubs a bit of time to plan around it.

| If the quota dispensation passes I'd look at Shane Wright too, be a handy pick up for us.
Nikorima an obvious choice if we need a running 6

Things change but you’d think if Myler and Cartwright wanted Nikorima they’d have moved last season when he was unattached, and like you say he’s going to want a multi year deal. I’ve actually liked the little what I’ve seen of him but he’s had baggage in the past and got a lot less NRL game time then Cust over a much longer period in the lower grades. Not sure he’s worth a quota spot beyond a short term deal.
Maybe I’m reading way too much into it but the only thing that makes me think we might have something up our sleeves with a halfback is the wording in Bowers article that we’ve backed away from the Sneyd deal. More then likely just wanting to save face knowing Sneyd not interested, but you never know can’t see anyone else potentially available other then Nikorima and that’s only if the quota exemption is voted through.
