If we have offered him a 3 year deal on good money, then the club is completely right to be saying 'Final Offer' most other players wouldn't be getting such a good offer at that age.

also: unless things have changed, Saints are very reluctant in handing out long contracts to players over 30, so I am not sure they will be matching our 3 year deal.

Like some-one mentioned earlier in the thread it makes more sense to offer Manu 3 yrs than O'Caroll!...personally I believe Manu will be causing problems for teams in 3 yrs, plus so far his injury record is excellent.

No problem for ne a 3 year deal with his fitness record, bet we get more games out of him than o Carroll. Be suprised if doesn't acpcept it as doubt saints will offer him that long, unless he thinks he can win mire things at saints.

My thoughts exactly...although there are no obvious strings how do we know the deal is not on a sliding scale with the 3rd yrs payment reduced ? AP is no mug.
He may be 35 at the end of his contract however look at Menzies, (I could name a few more) Manu is strong as an ox and clearly looks after himself.

So is three year deal for Ellis who is only a year younger and doesn't have as good a fitness record as manu, unfortunately q club of our position at the moment had to do these things to keep and sigh the top players. I still think the last year might have a appearances clause in it.

Hopefully or 2015 could be a really long season.

3 years at Hull on £80k is more than 2 years at Saints on £100k.

none of us know how the 3 year deal is stacked up, i would be very surprised if the 3rd year of the contract isn`t based on the number of games he has played in the previous 2 yaers, if he doesn`t play enough games the club would have the option not to take up the 3rd year.

That makes no sense what so ever..

I would expect Manu to miss half a season if he was playing at 38 yrs of age, my point is players can cut it at top level at 35 years old and perform relatively injury free as Menzie has proved when he was 35 yrs old.

Then its all good, one thing that does worry me is that players come back to quick just to get their apps up.
