I'd be well happy with that but he'd still command a massive contract and easily get an NRL team even if Manly did have to get rid. I just can't see any big names coming our way if I'm honest.

I know you're pointing out the ridiculousness, but seeing as you mention him I just thought I'd say that in a dreamland where we'd have the pick of the NRL, Dugan would actually be my first choice.

As a signing, yes, for the long term. As a player, obviously Slater is better, but in terms of value and longevity I think Dugan would be a better option.

| Seymour has being told if he can find another club he can leave end of the year and O'meley is off to Salford.
It would appear that the more proffesional culture change is having an impact with some of our old regime players.

If he were available we would be competing with pretty much every NRL club and most of the top teams over here - especially with Hodgson at Warrington and Webb at Leeds probably leaving this year

I cant either, but NZ'ers coming over to SL hasnt seemed to affect their test playing chances like it does for Aussies

| Why is everyone saying that Seymour should be leaving? He's been great for us this year, good passing game, strong in defence, and imo is the main reason for our much stronger right-hand side.

It's like playing a hooker at half. He's good in defense but not quite good enough to lead the team around. He'd be great for us if we had a mercurial half to pair him with, but he's just not up to being that main playmaker.

There was only Thomas Leuluai in the NZ squad last season from SL. I doubt we'll see any picked from the UK any time soon with the depth of talent within the NRL.

| I dont know for definate but wasnt webb starting fullback and motu tony starting hooker for N.Z when they played in england ?
I agree tho I cant see this one coming off but who would have thought we would have pulled off a coupe like Gareth Ellis maybe our new board and coaching team really do mean business and not wasting good money on rubbish like in the past (Fitzgibbon aside)
Ive got total faith in Pearson n Gentle to pull us up to were we belong

I think changing no7 again would be a terrible decision. Seymour is not the best half-back in the world, but he is consistent and after 4/5 years of injured half backs and new combinations next week, I'd be happy for us to have some stability for next year at least.
I'm also not aware of any better halves being out of contract and available.
