I wasn't sure between the 80 and the 85 when I was getting ours, but I couldn't find an 85 in stock with anyone at the time, I only found it online. As far as I could see the only differences were 100hz on the 85 and £80 extra for it, and then I read a piece that said about people's eyes varying so that they see refresh rates differently. So I decided to compare 2 other TVs where the only difference was the refresh rate and for the life of me I just could not tell the difference. Thought I might as well get the 80 after that.

Correct the 85 was just the 100hz version of the 80... That's all... The 800 had a better screen and a few other bells and whistles.. I've still got a TH50PZ700 plasma which is 4yrs now and still going strong.. awesome tv and a TXL37G20 in my bedroom.

That seems a very good deal. What's best to look at in the 32inch range thats around the 300.00 range? I quite fancy something bigger in the bedroom. That wasn't a double-entendre. Genuine question I've been to Comet and there's a few options around 270.00 - maily Samsungs/LG's and Toshiba's. Dont need a great spec as it will only get moderate use.

Seems like a good deal. You got anything else/better for a bit more?
Also, still a bit concerned about burn in with plasma as I have a wife and 2 kids who are fond of leaving the sky box paused for hours or leaving the wii/xbox in the menu

Looks dated already. You need to look at the new Samsung D series LEDs with a 5mm bezel. They look stunning, albeit at a price!

At the minute you'd be looking around £350 for a 32" Panasonic at the minute (with a 5 year warranty) but i could probably get a little more off that if you aren't in such a rush.

The D series Samsungs are lovely looking tvs and perform quite well aswell. The are the nearest thimg to the GT30 Pana but still some way off.
Jake wanted a good quality basic tv, hence the quoted model.... Cracking tv for the price..

Don't worry about that mate, when the screen is 'static' for around 3/4mins it 'darkens' the display so eliminate ANY risk.. Also screen burn has never been an issue for Panasonic. Incidently they call it 'Image retention' as it is not permanent!!
With regards a better one, they jump up quite a bit in price from there and you won't gain a great deal.. for almost twice the price. If it isnt overly used you won't get a better set for the cash!!

| I have a 42" LCD Phillips. Been a cracking TV and has a great picture. It's almost 5 years old now so looking at a possible upgrade next year. Will probably go for 42-50" and will be looking at plasma screens.

Good TVs in their day but gambled quality on price and it bit them on the big time!! Won't be seeing their name on anything anytime soon... Not in the dutch fashion anyway!!

| Quote ="FC Wembley 08"Yer the U series are the most basic of their TVs.. Effectively a 2010 model in a 2011 casing. Besides they're also discontinued now sot there won't be any further stock of those!! That said at £440 odd with a 1 year warranty kind of highlights how good a deal my offer was!!
'"
Your deal is a corker!!
I paid £990 for a 32v2500 LCD Sony Bravia 4 years ago, bluray is sensational,
but Sky SD was ok, but backlight and contrast was too harsh, tried different settings,
but i dont like LCD's.
So, I bought a Panny 37 plasma, Sky SD and HD is far far better.
If Sky is the main usage of the tv, plasma is better than LCD - IMO.

| I bought a Panasonic TX-P50S10B with the Panasonic Blue-Ray home cinema last year, the picture quality on normal TV is fabulous, improved by some margin on HD chanels with the exception of rugby/football other than close ups I cant quite see any difference (could be me). The blue ray play back is excellent and the surround sound vibrates through you. All in all a sensational 'bit of kit'.

Wait until Saturday and switch (assuming you're on Sky) between channels 101 & 143, then tell me you don't notice a difference.

Seems to be a better panel than the previous one I listed. What can you do on the non comet version?
