| I may have spoken to soon! If you go on The St Helens Red Vee forum their fans rate him and would be sorry if he leaves.
It doesn't changed my view that it's an unnecessary signing unless someone leaves.
If he does sign like any new player (apart from Ben Cockayne, of course) he will get my backing.

| In Radford we trust
Ive doubted many of our signings when announced (Mini, Westerman, Fonua, Michaels) only to be proven hopelessly wrong.
I’ve had enough of humble pie, so I’m just keeping quiet from now on.

We already have a garbage saints cast off winger and don't need another need to play in the reserves. 2 first choice wingers with one half decent one in reserve plus some kids who could do a job. Buchanan looks a decent prospect and doesn't need someone else blocking his path to the first team'"
Not too much on here, but most have good words about Swift, I wonder who is right .you who has probably seen him only a few times or the fans who watch him every week?

if you are wanting 5/6 top players you are in dreamland, I rather have a decent SL winger and bring in some top forwards.
He is better than Dawson and Logan and has real pace which we lack, he will prov8de good competition to the other two if they both stay.

| Swift would be a good back up but not sure he’s good enough to be a regular for a team wanting to be challenging for trophies. Plus do we really need another experienced winger providing we keep Ratu, Faraimo and Dawson, then we still have the young lad Graham, Buchanan and Griffin to cover after that.

If as you say he’s rejected the contract and wants first team rugby, I can’t see him coming to FC. Especially if we resign Ratu.

I get the feeling Hadley will stay also.

I don't care what a few saints fans think. Plenty of the same opinion as me that he's not good enough for a team with genuine aspirations to challenge at the top of SL. From what I've seen of him he's about as reliable with ball in hand as greg eden but a lot less likely to score.
Will he leave saints to come to Hull unless we offer him a fair bit more cash or guaranteed first team spot? I doubt it very much.
I'd be very disappointed with our ambition if swift ended up being a replacement for ratu or faraimo as he's not as good as either and for me it's pointless adding in yet another player who won't be first choice when we have dawson and buchanan who can both play there plus options to move a centre there if necessary. We're supposed to be having less players and more quality

Ill have Swift if it means we are concentrating on using our cap money on forwards which we are more desperate for.

I have to agree. I don't see it as a good signing however you look at it.
Either Ratu/Faraimo are leaving, and Swift is going to be first choice, in which case I would be disappointed. Or they are both staying and Swift is coming to be a back up, in which case I would be worried about how much cap we have tied up in back up wingers. He won't exactly be dirt cheap. There are other clubs where he would be a starter, so I imagine he will have other offers.

| Really hope not, Ratu could be top class next season - good enough at the moment anyway, certainly keep Dawson, Logan & Swift out of the first team. His potential MUCH higher than the other fella's ( who are all competent but realistically backup & how many back up wingers do we need ).
Will be really disappointed if we lose Ratu or Bereta & only bring in Swift.

I said a few. Have a dig back on their board and you'll see plenty of posts every time one of his brain farts cost them in the past. He's way below the standard we need as first choice and a complete waste of money as a back up.
Answer me this - if saints don't see him as fist choice and have made him a low contract offer to stay, why do you think he would be first choice with us or worth more as a reserve?

Honest opinion, Adam Swift is probably better than Bureta, Logan, and MDJ, Naulago has the potential to be better than all three, so don’t think it would be a negative signing “if true” sometimes Jake teams have an abundance in good players in certain positions , without Reagan Grace present form, Swift takes the other wing slot.

You can quote one off games, it’s easy, perhaps Swifts hat trick counter balances this. When was Bureta last hat trick, wing play has changed, especially the way Radders wants us to play.

If you read that post about out of contract players, it explains that he was first choice and playing really well when he signed his last contract, Grace then came through.
Nearly every post I've seen about him as a player (Not on one off moments) has been positive.
You don't need great wingers to be successful, plenty of sides have won things with solid wingers.
Maybe he needs a change of clubs, plenty of players who have signed by Radford have been critised before they signed and gone onto doing well.
We need another specialist winger not Logan, KB or Shaul and I don't see many better OOC wingers in SL.

| I agree with Jake. Don't think we need Swift if the club is aiming for quality over quantity. We have 3 wingers already and would rather push a centre to wing if needed than use a portion of our salary cap on a 4th winger. I'd like us to bulk up the pack as it's much more important right now

I'm pretty sure I have never seen a game where Faraimo has had 3 half decent scoring opportunities. I've seen him score a few out of nothing though.
The number of tries a winger scores has far more to do with how his team plays than with how good he is. Look at Eden. Scored for fun when Cas were playing well. Now that their attack has gone to peices he is dropped from the team. If you are looking purely at tries scored then it's a very poor way to rank wingers. Swift only scores a hat trick because his teammates create 3 good chances for him.
Your last sentence is odd. The way Radders wants us to play is way more suited to Faraimo than to Swift.
Bureta lacks for a bit of pace (and people will disagree, but I think power is more important than pace in the modern game anyway). Other than that he is superior to Swift in every way. And I say that as someone who quite likes Swift!
If MDJ wasn't here then I would consider Swift a good signing as a 3rd winger. But unless someone is leaving I just don't see the point.

Whoa there Mr Zucchini, I didn’t rank anyone by tries scored, just replying to an instance in a game from Tinkerman.
Adam Swift is hardly a lightweight as a winger, and would comfortably fill Radders needs of how he likes his wingers to play, and as in your own words “Bureta lacks for a bit of pace” Swift would give us an edge we don’t currently have, I hope this explains my odd sentence for you.
Ideally I would like Naulago Bureta & Swift, these three would be an upgrade on what we currently have, and if this is true, why do you think Radders wants him.
Now before you ask how we fit Dawson Logan Bureta Swift Naulago in our squad without releasing anyone, these decisions are what our coach is paid for.
Although we disagree over who is the better of Swift or Bureta, my post was not at the expense of Bureta, but as well as.
Regards.
