Yes it was. But apparently FC should have unilaterally decided something an announced it without bothering to get agreement from the RFL and Bradford. ![Rolling Eyes icon_rolleyes.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_rolleyes.gif)

It would have been your choice if you wanted to return, all you have to do is show your ticket or pass to get your hand stamped (same as magic w/end when you want to leave the stadium). There were young & old people ffs expected to sit in a stadium in the freezing cold until 10.45 if the game had gone ahead!

There'll be a large section of both fans who can't make Sunday.
To take money from fans 2 minutes before the announcement is disgusting.

Appreciate it's not hulls fault but they shouldn't be taking people's money and the communication should certainly be better.'"
"Disgusting"? Don't be such a drama queen.
Anyway, you're one to talk about a club taking fans money when they shouldn't.

No official statement from the club however, was this a leaked memo for the HOME players? Get to the stadium early!!! www.hullfc.com/article/23814/acc ... um-tonight.
Bad accident on the M62, problem with players in cars getting across is one of those things however, not telling supporters what is happening and the likely outcome is down to the club and as people have already mentioned I would have expected better from AP's team.
Well done to the Bulls fans I spoke to, good spirits and understanding

You don't see the difference between someone fancying a fag and the game being postponed for 75 minutes (when supporters have been advised to arrive early)?

| Quote ="Rock God X"They weren't, but it was obvious from Westerman's twitter feed that the game wouldn't be going ahead long before the game was even postponed. They had a stadium full of fans and, when it was their players who weren't present, they should have made a decision far sooner and communicated far better.
They could certainly have communicated with the SMC to ensure that people weren't being admitted to the stadium until the final decision had been reached.
Humberside were unable to get hold of anyone at the club to keep fans posted. A better idea of what was going on would have gone a long way to appeasing those sat shivering in the stadium. And then to refuse people the right to leave and come back just seems churlish.
Hull weren't responsible for the accident, but their handling of it was poor.'"
I wasn't aware that Westerman's twitter feed was the final authority in these matters.
According to Smailes the situation was changing constantly as the RFL ran back and forth between Hull and Bradford trying to keep the game on. At one point we were being told that we should change our squad and play the kids. Nothing could be announced until ALL THREE PARTIES agreed something and the RFL validated it. Maybe the reason Humberside couldn't get a definitive statement from the club was because the situation wasn't defined?
Maybe they did speak to the SMC and were told the turnstiles couldn't/wouldn't be closed as some people were already in the ground? Maybe H&S or the Police advised against it?
Trying to pin the blame without the full facts is a little pointless isn't it?

| Quote ="Chris71"What a joke!!!! Called off because the home players are unable to make it. I'm sorry but as a professional team they should all be together as a team from lunchtime on a game day. No wonder we look like we've just got off a bus at times. What happened to signing players and making sure they were close to the Hull area
The club from the owner down should be embarrassed by the p!55 poor communication to the fans. I would have expected silence from the old board but expected more from AP.
Total and utter shambles, p!55ed off & frozen. Do us season pass holders get a refund on the game if we can not make it?'"
Chris, your usually level headed when posting but please reel it back.
I have just got home ( just outside wakey) after trying to get to the game. I set off at 6, with the intention of getting to the hull area at 7, an hour before the game. I heard on the radio about the tanker problem. At 6.45 I eventually make it to J34 (a19 Selby and get in a
convoy through hensall and snaith. This crawled along. Throughout this I am listening to the radio and updates from the stadium. By now it's 8pm and I have moved about 5 miles in and hour. The game get/ called off, I turn around and come home.
As I am coming home I hear lots of people call in to RH having a proper go at the hull players for not making it to the ground.
Well there are two things which many haven't considered. Firstly, the Hull players concerned were caught in that no mans land, after the last junction they could have got off and before the stricken tanker. They were going no where. The Bradford bus had clearly set off after these Hull players and were able to be diverted.
Secondly, and the point a few definitely haven't thought through is this nonsense about the Hull players should have been in Hull earlier to avoid this problem. Well let's say the West Yorkshire players did set off at 1pm to get across and exactly the same situation arises, they end up in no mans land beyond a junction and in front of a tanker which has spilled a corrosive loads across the M62. Because they would still be there now as well. It didn't matter when they would have set off they have just been unlucky. 15 mins before and through. 15 mins after and diverted.
As a side issue the communication from the club was Shiite.

What has wanting a fag got to do with this!! we are talking about young & old fans being expected to sit is a freezing cold stadium for an hour and half before a KO when a simple solution would be to stamp a persons hand which enables them to go sit in a warm place (Bar/car etc) and return around 9pm for KO!
The people stuck on the motorway were sat in a warm place, their cars/coaches of course there is a bloody difference.

On the other hand, Humberside were also unable to understand the workings of time, so maybe their competence could be a factor. At 7.30 a female caller said they were leaving, Humberside asked why it wasn't just worth waiting until the then suspected 8.30 kick off as it was only 30 minutes away. They followed that up with the question that if people thought they should be there at about 12, what would they expect them to do for 6 hours until an 8pm kick off? They then told us it was being moved to tomorrow night as Clark was on the pitch confirming Sunday afternoon.

| Why? I think the conduct of my clubs previous management is just as bad.
Would it have been really hard to get a message to the stewards to tell people they weren't sure if the game was going ahead?
Accusing me of being a drama queen yet you're taking this personally. If my club had taken 48 quid in match tickets, a fiver from parking from you when you had already paid for petrol I'd expect you to be annoyed and I would think my club was poorly run. I understand the stewards are employed by a different company but any sort of message would be better than just taking the money no questions asked.

I saw it 1st hand as was in the ground at 7-15 to get my kids usual seats in unreserved. There was plenty of outlets selling hot (overpriced) drinks and food. You start giving into 1..you get others....TBH,i cant see what the club could have done.

I don't think I said it was the final authority, did I? No, I definitely did not. But when he's posting 'still haven't moved, still haven't moved' repeatedly, it seems fairly obvious that moving is not a thing they're likely to be doing very soon.
And RH didn't need a definitive statement on anything, just an update on what was happening. FFS, Bradford were tweeting stuff several minutes before Hull and they were the away team. Next to nowt came out of the club save for the announcement that KO was 21.15, then the announcement that it was off.
That in itself was a farce. Whilst it wasn't solely Hull's fault, they should never have postponed and then called off like that. They took long enough to reach a decision between them, and still fukced it up.

| Just home from my 4 hour attempt to reach Hull. It was obvious to me stuck in the traffic that at around 7.30 there was no chance of reaching Hull for 9:15. Only problem for us fans based in West Yorkshire is the weather forecast for Sunday is heavy snow here ![Sad icon_sad.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_sad.gif)

Young & old are very susceptible to the cold conditions, however every-one should have been given the option to seek a warm area if they choose to do so due to the delay, like I have stated I hope lessons are learnt from this and a simple solution such as hand stamps are considered as a contingency plan in the future.

| The most ridiculous aspect of it was the overhead motorway sign just before the A1M turn off which said M62 junction 34 to 35 15 mins delay. Which muppet at the highways agency had that up, it should have been advising people to turn off.

| First and foremost, I understand that accidents can happen at any time, and often cause massive disruption for people caught up in the aftermath. I must also point out that I sincerely hope that nobody has been seriously hurt; however, I can’t help but feel that this cancellation could have all been avoided and reflects badly on Hull FC.
For far too long, I have gone to various watering holes for pre match drinks before home games only to witness players drive past heading to the KC stadium with only 90mins or so to go before kick off. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out that this is potentially pushing the boundaries in case something goes wrong, and today the club has been found lacking in professionalism in this area imo.
Yes there was an accident that caused significant disruption, but the simple fact remains that the Bradford Bulls (with the aid of a police escort), match officials, a small proportion of away fans and a section of FC fans that travel down the M62 to home games all managed to make their way to the KC, yet some of our starting 17 didn’t!!!!
Some people might not agree with this opinion, but I can only imagine what the post would be like if we had travelled to Odsal only for the game to be cancelled under the same circumstances.
Hull need to learn lessons from this and ensure that in future all players are in Hull for a pre match meal and final video session 3 to 4 hours before kick off.

| No one to blame, I'm just disappointed with the club's communication with the fans.
Westy etc were stuck from 5pm, so would have set off around 4. Would be plenty of time to get to Hull in any normal circumstance. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
It's ok anyway, team meeting at 6am Sunday for the 3pm KO:
@TomLineham: Team meet 6am Sunday for 3pm kick off! Necessary precautions incase of a Tornado/Hurricane/Tsunami/Sandstorm/earthquake/AlienInvasion!!
