It was a bad defeat and, by the sound of it, a poor performance. Stuff like that will happen though, particularly early in the competition. We were poor, Salford had a good day, our lack of props didn't help and we lost. But it's not a cause for anger until a pattern of results like this with no signs of improvement emerges.

This team is still the last lots team, we have to give Gentle time to put his stamp on the team and even longer for HIS TEAM.

We waited four years with false promises, spin and dire rugby now is not the time to panic or at any point this season.

Problem is that we have too many very average players and not enough outstanding ones.

Gentle knows this and will be working hard to get things right, but it will take time.

This is not going to happen overnight and we will lose games just like the last 4 or 5 wasted years.

But unlike the recent past, I believe this will no longer be tolerated by the owner and new coach.

But they will need time.

We should give them that time.
