| I have to say that I have certainly not been his biggest fan. I have though always wanted the club to succeed and would never want us to lose in order for the coach to be sacked, unlike some.
I have been at the point of despair over the past 3 years since that loss to Wigan at Wembley. I personally couldn't see what we could do other than completely change the backroom staff. Widnes away this year summed it all up perfectly for me. Shocking display followed by a dressing room lock in without the coach. The writing was clearly on the wall then, in hindsight
Radders deserves all the credit that is due to him an he is due a lot from me as I eat humble pie. But equally we must realise what we have. The spirit within the entire club appears to be amazing. It is one club. You only have to look at the pictures in the dressing room after Friday's match. The entire backroom staff and squad in the dressing room celebrating. The huddle after matches only taking place once all the players are in it.
The images we have from the players on instagram and the like. Compare that with for example Wire after Saturday's match walking round the Leigh stadium as individuals (I'm not knocking that). There is a spirit that I don't recall ever seeing at any club whatever the sport.
That comes from Lee and Adam. It was clearly what Lee wanted and it is clear that Adam bought into that and so have the players. Led by the senior guys like Ellis and Mini. It is why we sold Westy and Lineham. And probably why we no longer have the likes of Ben Crooks at the club.
Very few of us saw the reasons but seeing the club now it is plainly obvious why Lee and Adam took the decisions they did.
My only hope now is that we can build on this and not destroy it like we have with all the decent sides we've had since the 80s. There is massive potential now. The squad with few exceptions is still relatively young. a tweak here and there at the end of each season could see us developing like the Rhinos have done over the past decade.
Boy its exciting.

| My thoughts on Lee's abilities when 20-nil down against Rovers after an hour this season to now could not be more contrasting.
I am glad to be eating as much humble pie as Lee and the team keep serving. long may it continue.

Well said.
Nobody was happy with what we saw going on, pretty much everyone questioned Radford's initial appointment, and questioned whether he was the right man (myself included). Every one of us is eating humble pie, just some people have a much larger portion to eat than others.
A few posters have referred to me & others as happy clappers because we didn't display the same levels of vitriol towards Radford that they did. If anyone could be d to look back through my posts, I was as frustrated as the next person, but maybe just a little more patient and noticed the faint glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.
As you say, a lot of decisions made at the time didn't seem right, at least from the outside looking in, which with the power of hindsight can see were the right decisions. Sorting out the squad was always going to take time. Radders getting up to speed as a HC was always going to take time.
Some posters should be completely ashamed of the way they acted at the time. Criticism is fine, we've all done it at some point. Nobody will ever take exception to someone with a genuine concern / criticism with something happening on the field or at the club. Once it goes past that line into the realms of; personal abuse, accusations about his character, made up b/s, opinions on the back of made up b/s, petitions to get him sacked from his job, banners at games etc, like it did do, it's fair to expect it to be challenged. Stuff like that simply isn't on, and that's where the divide occurred on this board. Unfortunately, a couple of the main protagonists still refuse to withdraw or apologise for their actions and are currently sat there blissfully booking their Wembley trips. Such is life.
It's been a great season so far. We have a massive chance at Wembley (more so than the past 2 finals anyway), and we're realistically only a couple of wins away from cementing a top4 finish. Radders deserves huge credit, so does Motu, Pearson & the rest of the backroom staff, their patience & hard work should be a lesson to all of us.

| I had my doubts about his appointment. Like many on here, I thought it was too big a job for a first time coach to turn our club's fortune around and revive the quintessential "sleeping giant".
I will now join the long queue of people and hold my hands up and say I was wrong. Even at the start of this season, I never saw this coming, especially after the nightmare night at Widnes when it looked like "same old same old Hull Fc".
Success is always at its greatest when it is least expected (and boy, is this season unexpected!). The plaudits and back-slaps have to go to Lee as the chief architect of this stunning season, along with his backroom staff. So, fair play to all of them for giving us a season to remember.
Now if you will excuse me, I'm off for another helping of humble pie, served up with chips, peas and gravy of course (well, I am a northern lad after all!!!).

I never once mentioned anything to do with his facial features and have never said anything personal unlike posters on here with their personal jibes towards those whom just wanted to say what they thought about the rugby and the coaches ability.
There's a great deal of difference there and one that so many of the bullies on here choose to ignore at their convenience.
And yes LR has done verywell so far this season

You are full of 5hite.
You slated his coaching ability & him personally, I knew when he got his own squad he would turn them into a decent side, he leaves nothing unturned & his commitment is the best I know of, he lives for the game.

| After always being pro-Radford, when we were 20-0 down at theirs I stood on the terraces of the Zeebrugge stand and honestly thought to myself that I wasn't sure where we could go from here and even muttered the words 'I think his time is up'.
What's happened since has been nothing short of a revelation and this year should mark the start of a prolonged period of success. All the ingredients are there, Radford has recruited superbly, but for me the signing of Washy is just as important as any others, because he hasn't just signed the right players, he's signed the right people.

| It's a remarkable turnaround. Good on him. It took a while to clear out the deadwood and shape his own squad but we are now starting to see the benefits of his hard work (as well as Motu Tony and Adam Pearson of course).
Shaul's try at the Lightstream was probably the most important for the club since Cooke's at Cardiff.

Yea I can relate to that! I text my mate with 20 minutes to go "Bye bye Radford". At the end of the match he texted back "Lee knows what he's doing"

It appears that [imeast's[/i post on page 2 of that thread was the most relevant given the luxury of hindsight.
As for the Letchworthian, he really needs to stop digging.
Masochism must be his thing, buried alive yet again.

He'd have to be talked about in glowing terms, but for me to be as reveared as AB he would have to back it up and keep backing it up over a few seasons like Arthur did. Though given we only won the title once under Arthur and the Challenge Cup only once that may be harsh. There was far more to aim for in the 80s and with the benefit of hindsight all these years later we greatly under performed in the 80s given the talent we had.

| If we loose the CC don't get to Old Trafford and start poorly next year peoples attitudes will change quickly. I think we need to remember how good this season has been regardless of what happens from now.

This is a nail on head comment.
Too many lament to the early 80's when in reality we won 3 trophies of note (League, CC and JPS), yes there were 3 Yorks Cups, but that cannot be considered a major competition.
We also choked badly on many finals (CC - 80, 83, 85), JPS (85), Premiership (81, 82, 83).
At that time we have spent massively on domestic and overseas players yet still never dominated the sport like Wigan did just a few years later.
