| Ooops.
Deserved win by Bradford, Cas look a bit of a shambles.

| [quote="Chris71":245yz8ew]It’s a shame that Odsal hasn’t changed at all over the years, that pitch is truly awful.
So far Bradford definitely bossing things, Cas look a very poor side indeed and ominous signs for the upcoming season. They’re certainly lacking in the forwards and if news on Staveley is indeed true he’ll definitely get game time and that’s about all. If Hull were happy for him to stay then I’d say he’s being badly advised on a move to Cas.[/quote:245yz8ew]
If they want to get into S/L then they will have to move grounds
Ground share no doubt

Any of the club chairman got shares in the RFL's catering contractor?

| The chairmen must've forgot the £300k payoff Nigel received last time...wonder if the bulls will miraculously be in SL next year too if he becomes head of the RFL again

Have they not forgot the rubbish he left the game in last time ... Complete suicide if we go back to him .
If there's going to be a mutiny then atleast go for someone with a fresh approach and more forward thinking .

Ironically it seems Catalans not in favour of this move and their owner has a Chicken business ![Smile :)]({SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif)
Seems Derek and Gary driving this idea but Ken Davy against it. No idea where we stand but you'd suspect Thrikhill will know big Nige after all these years.
In what other industry/organisation would you get a £300k payoff for being a disaster and then get invited back ![Rolling Eyes ]({SMILIES_PATH}/icon_rolleyes.gif)

Absolute joke if this goes ahead as the guy was an abject failure and set the game back years under his governance.
I’m all for giving someone a go but not someone who has already failed the audition in some style and got a pay out the sport could ill afford.
No wonder the sport is where it is.

Yes, in fact Thirkill sought Wood's advice when considering buying Hull.

Worst thing he did was to buy the odsal lease for big money, save Bradford and then become their Chairman. Seems very dubious ![Rolling Eyes ]({SMILIES_PATH}/icon_rolleyes.gif)

| Looking forward to it all starting again tonight, first games tend to be scrappy and potentially underwhelming, but I think tonight should be a close and exciting contest (Cue the Wigan win by 30).

| Home end sold out at Wigan with not many left in the Leigh end. Have to say when Leigh got mentioned as an SL side in the past I was dismissive of adding another team in the Wigan area but I've been proven wrong and it's a better strategy than the scattergun expansion teams the game has wasted money on.

| And in more damning state of the game news...Barrow have sent out a rallying call for new funds, but worst of all the owner is claiming that they year they made the most profit recently was 2020 when they didn't play, everyone was furloughed and later in the year the ground was used for private functions. So basically may as well give up being an RL team with the ever decreasing central funds.

| Think it will be best if Wigan win tonight. We don't want Wigan coming to us next Friday looking to kickstart their season into life after an opening night defeat.
It'll be a hard enough game for us as it is without Wigan having any extra incentive for victory. It probably won't make that much of a difference in the end, but reverse psychology has it merits sometime!!

| Pathetic squad selection from Salford.
Interested to see how Leigh go tonight. They've had a tough job replacing some big hitters.

It's really not a good look is it, increase your profit margins by not playing RL is hardly the stuff to fire the expansion of the game, even in one of its heartland areas. I'd love to see IMG fashion a catchy slogan out of that scenario!!
We had some decent battles with Barrow, late 70s - early 80s, it is depressing for the game as a whole to see clubs like this struggling to even barely survive.

Eddie Szymala! Good luck to Barrow, would be terrible to see them go under.

| Wigan team is so good. Be interesting to see how the youngsters come through over the next few years cope as most of them may not get a look in. Could be some real assets to pick up.
