So it wasn't really relevant when discussing drink driving.

I fail to see the difference between him drinking and driving a few weeks before he gets here and a few weeks after. Why does one mean he should 'get lost' and the other mean that any one who suggests he should get lost is an idiot?

I've known players who have played for us which have done worse then Seymour and are still held in high regard here just because they wasn't caught people turn a blind eye.

I was told a story about Knocker by an ex-player workmate who still is very good friends with Knocker
He was awoken by a knock on the door in the early hours by a taxi driver. "can I help you my workmate said"
Taxi driver-" I have Steve Norton in the back of my cab and he cannot remember where he lives, he is a bit worse for wear and all he can remember is where you live and he says you will be able to tell me where he lives to take him home. Oh and do you have the fair he's spent up"
My workmate told him where to take Knocker and paid for the cab and whent back to bed bemused.
7am in the morning a mere few hours after the cab incedent my workmate said he was stood at the bus-stop waiting to go to work and who should run past him, yes run past him, shouting "morning". You guessed it Knocker, training.

we all fell about laughing then my mate says "and the Ba****d still hasn't paid me for the cab"

One thing that always strikes me about Lee is how articulate and incisive he is.

I agree, plenty have done worse, but my feelings about them are similar (if not stronger) than my feelings about Seymour.

That's the key sentence here I think. If Seymour turns out to be a legend on the field most on here wont care less what he does off it. He's been brought over to Hull to play scrum half, if he does it well all will be forgiven.

personally I disagree, he could rip SL apart, but if he gets convicted again then I will not shrug my shoulder and say "yeah, but he's a top player", in the same way it angers me when people laud George Best, he spent longer ruining other peoples lives than he did kicking a football, he was no legend in my eyes.

Thats true the term is to loosely used these days

we're all guilty of it, we've cheapened so many phrases, like "world class", few players actually are, and remain to be consistantly.

For me "world class" is quite easy to define - and not that difficult to achieve in the small world or RL,

If a team were to be created out of all the current players in the world, and said player would get into that team,

then that player is world class, no?

If he scores the match winner in the challenge cup final or SL grand final the last words from your mouth will be "Yeah, but what about his drink driving ban". I'm only pulling your leg Standee

no, that players has been world class on a single occasion, to be genuinely world class you need to be picked in a team that wins world competitions on a consistent basis, ie: Wally Lewis, Mal Meninga, Darren Lockyer

no England player is, therefore, World Class, as they haven't proved it consistently on the world stage, Tomkins et al are [ipotentially[/i World Class because if they were Aussies they may have got picked for the World Class side in the game.
