Do we think he has made his mind up yet where he will be next season?

It's the constant waiting allowing rumours to surface which causes the problems and leads to bad feeling.

He said he would let the club know before the start of the season (oz?) but nothing has been said as far as i know.

Just say something to keep the fans informed and confirm or deny the rumours.

Wilf said in this week's Dentists Diary that his sources say Tom's meeting his agent this week to discuss the offers he has and decide where he's going next season. Those same sources say that Tom won't be staying with us.

My theory is that at the start of the NRL season there were no offers on the table for Tom hence why nothing has been said. He's since either been waiting for a NRL club to come in with an offer or (and this one is more likely given the rumours) he's been sounding out other SL clubs and Union clubs.

Who is boasting, I was simply saying what Briscoe earns has nothing to do with it, he's seen out his contract and, possibly, decided to move on, that's his right.

I don't think anybody should be too upset if Brisco ended up at Wigan where he will be developed into a better winger with the prospect of winning something. I wouldn't be too worried about that because I think Lineham will make young player of the year he is that good, I also think he will make the England Knights if not this season then definitely next.

Although Lineham is one of my favourite players for Hull along with DJ, for me Ben Crooks is more likely to win YPOTY imo.

Bristol for me needs to go to another club and become a better player far too many times he is caught out of position .Australia would be good for him he would be able to improve a lot .

Do you think that gentle has known all along that briscoe is leaving ,hence the signing of crookes .Ive never been a big believer in spending a large wedge of salary cap on a winger ,after all a winger is only as good as the players on his inside getting the ball to him ,ok I know briscoe has scored some great tries for us but so has lineham .Id rather see us invest in a big rough d prop to replace ogre when he goes.

For me if Tom wants to go for whatever his reason then he is perfectly entiltled to do so its his choice.

He signed a contract with the club for a set length of time which at the end of this season will have expired, so if he did decide to go elsewhere he has not broken his contract with us.

The only gripe I would have with Tom IF he went to another SL would be that he should have been a bit more savvy & honest in how he has gone about it in regards to saying along the lines of he wouldn't go elsewhere in SL etc, in particular with the bright future the club seems to have in the near future under.

If he goes so be it, yes he will be a loss but the club will go on and will still be going long after he has retired. At the end of the day players are a commodity that are bought and sold and can have limited shelf lives and as such they need to maximise their earnings its nothing new.

However the grass is not always greener.

Why do people think Lineham is Briscoe's replacement? They're playing together! If anything, Crookes is Briscoe's replacement.

Thing is I'm not sure he knows what he's doing. He may well be starting to enjoy his rugby again and see that he could be part of something here at Hull. Whatever he does I wish him well but I won't loose any sleep over it.

I'm not sure if I agree with the comparisons between your regular 9-5 jobs and playing for a sports club. I can see what people are saying here but there's too many differences in my mind for it to be a fair comparison.

That said, Tom's at the end of his contract and well within his rights to leave. It's not illegal. Any issues are in the heads of us fans. From what I have read in the past I was always under the impression that if Tom left that it would be to pursue his NRL dream so for him to potentially leave for another SL club will leave me feeling disappointed. Especially at a time when we seem to be on the up.

But disappointment will be as far as it goes. Tom will get my full support whilst he continues to play in the black and white and will get my applause when he returns with his new club to the KC. It would only change from disappointment to something more if I ever felt Tom wasn't putting in the effort any more knowing he was moving on.

As someone else has already said, we will survive without him. We're a better team with him in the squad but we're not going to collapse if and when he leaves. Hopefully if he does go we'll use that extra space on the salary cap wisely.

Genuine question, has Tom ever publicly stated that he would only leave Hull to go to the NRL? He seems to be getting a bit of stick for something I'm not sure he has ever said?
As a Hull fan I'd be disappointed if he joined another SL club but mainly because as a club we couldnt convince him to share our vision of the future.

Very few players ever share the same love of a club as a fan does so its hardly surprising they are prepared to move on when the situation is right. As long as they give 100% while here I have no ill feeling towards them.

Read somewhere that we offered him a deal that was very close to Ellis's but that we've been outbid by at least 2 other SL clubs, so TBF think the club have done all that we could have expected in effort to retain his services.

Sometimes players feel the need to move on and find a new challenge. I'm sure his plan was to move to the NRL but for whatever reason that appears to have fallen through. A bit dissapointed that his new challenge may now see him joining another SL club but he's given 100% and seen out his contract so good luck to him, hope we can send him on his way with some silverware.

I totally understand his desire to move to the NRL. Another level of rugby, another experience , more life experience etc etc. However Hull as a club have the desire, ambition, capital and ability to compete with the other best clubs in the land and I would also be disappointed if Tom Briscoe can't see that and chooses to move to a rival club in super league.

I don't think he's ever come out and said the words "I will only leave Hull to go to the NRL" but I believe you will be able to find lots of quotes from different sources including Tom and his agent talking about his NRL ambition. I don't think you'll find many, if any, in which he talks about moving to another SL club or Union. Maybe a few of us have put two and two together there and thought that the NRL talk meant that he would only leave us for the NRL. That's where our disappointment potentially will come from. But then we're to blame for that I suppose.

I agree that the players don't always share the same love of the clubs as the fans do. And as I've said previously, Tom's perfectly within his rights to move on. If he goes to somewhere like Wigan or Leeds then you can at least say he's moving on to a bigger club with more realistic chances of silverware than us at this time (I hope we will soon be able to count ourselves amongst the big boys) but if he ends up going to somewhere like Salford then that does raise questions about why he left us and why he didn't think we could match his ambitions. Perhaps our disappointment there should be aimed at the club though.

Anything is possible.

But as I aluded to earlier in this thread, a post on here quickly becomes perceived fact. I don't know what Hull have offered TB, I doubt anyone who posts on here does. But as Standee said, money talks. They have a short working life as a player, they have to maximise their earnings while they can.
