| Time for him to go, and time for the club to stop giving assistants a chance and hope that they learn on the job
His tactics in the 2nd half were shocking

| Quote ="World of Redboy"The Tony Smith that got the boot because Rovers couldn’t win a match, that Tony Smith?
What this club needs is gutting of ex players etc. If a new coach comes , the support staff he bring with them need to have no association with this club. He has to demand of Pearson that he is the boss and he has to have an iron discipline in removing players who aren’t good enough, tossing it off.etc. If he has a plan and structure to take the playing side forward, and it means using the younger players because the older players won’t, then do it.'"
It never works when a coach announces they are going, Smith has a proven track record and Rovers were flying before things went wrong in the board room. I'd have him at Hull straight away.

| You can’t help but believe that there is something in the rumours of players not liking him after that second half, it was almost like they went out there to blow it on purpose, it was that bad.
I don’t think he will go, but you know what will happen, six games into next season he will get sacked and we will be looking at another write off of a season. It’s a painful watch at the moment and I don’t know where or how it gets easier. A defeat to toulouse and results going against us and we could genuinely find ourselves in a relegation scrap

You may not like or even respect your coach or manager but these are professionals who should go out and give their all and take pride in their performance.
Hodgson needs to go and take some of the players with him.

I be was with you until you mention Tony
Brill in his day but we need a young hungry coach.
Thing with Brett is he’s an intelligent systems coach but man management isn’t his strength. Think we need to stick with him and hopefully get a couple of wins.

I was just thinking smith till the end of the season, just someone to get us probably just a couple more wins to keep us safe . I really don't think Brett has anymore wins in him

Nice guy but not a head coach
I said the same re Radford in 14-15
Adam seems terrible at hiring head coaches and then managing them

Yes tbh I’m not hopeful of us getting any wins.
Pearson Hodgson coaching group need a clear the air talks with the players. Personal professional pride , they must surely be hurting regardless of whether they follow Hodgson or not.

Worrying thing is his appointments at City were a mixed bag too, cant thank the guy enough for the money he has invested but he has to take his share of the blame for the continuing mediocrity

100% agree, we saw it towards the end with Radford, we saw glimpses with it with Last and we are now seeing it with Hodgson, all with a similar core group of players. It’s unacceptable, the culture and attitude from players is probably the biggest issue this club faces at the moment, and it seems no matter who comes in it’s still there.

His share of the blame? It is all his fault. He makes the appointments and the terminations. Unfortunately for FC there is no alternative money man in the wings and no one can sack an owner.

AP is a great guy and has rescued the Club. Trueman and Hoy signings prove he's a big fan and financially ok for now.
BUT it doesn't make him a great man manager. Head Coaches need managing. Shane Richardson had Sean McCrae working his socks off. As soon as Shane left then the wheels fell off quickly and all of a sudden it wasn't Sean's fault anymore. Sean used the cancer word as a smokescreen for his own failings.
Adam is the one constant in all these failed head coaches. Look at the Cleveland Browns ( of whom I'm a passionate fan since 1989).
I know them nearly as well as I know FC. Haslams are like Adam. Very generous and kind and kept the Clubs afloat.
However, they stuck by the head coach who had a record of 3-36 - Hue Jackson. They then brought another clown in after that.
Nice wealthy people who still can't manage.
Adam seems to be falling into that trap. BH is no head coach at FC. If that's the best you can do then the Players aren't playing for you.
0-60 v Wigan same again. Losing at Wakey - same again. KR away - SHOCKING.
AP needs to buy in a world class Coach who can save him money by turning average players into good players and good players into great players, ala Brian Smith.

| Groundhog Day yet again ...
Another unproven Manager, set to face the same execution as Agar, Gentle and Radford... Hull FC's hierarchy still haven't worked out, that to solve attitude, mindset and culture issues , it needs an experienced Manager, not an experienced Assistant coach...
There are 4 experienced Grand Final winning Manager's, unemployed at this moment in time, one who isn't a million miles away...
IF the club believe Hodgson is the man to challenge St Helens, they are seriously deluded...
I would appoint Tony Smith until the end of the season, and contact, Holbrook, Maguire, or Brown to see if they are interested...
On to next week, the ' fat lady' is reaching for the Listerine from the medicine cabinet...

| We seem to enjoy throwing money at players such as Fonua and Reynolds which all have been far far better spent on a head coach. When it comes to players it seems like we will happily pay big money and hand out big contracts but only ever want to take the cheaper option when it comes to the coaching side. Gone about it all in completely the wrong way.
It seems like we are learning and are now putting more money into the youth system and singing younger players rather than big money for big names, but we still need the right man to guide them all and at the moment we don't have him.

| Alarms bells went off for me last week when Hodgson said we didn’t have much to fix up.
After a 60+ drubbing, in which someone scored seven tries, and we never looked like scoring?
Thought it was because we had targeted the Cas game instead, but I was dead wrong on that.
Like expressed earlier, we have found big money for under performing players that could have been spent on a proven coach.
Honestly think we should have just kept Andy Last now. Wouldn’t have been any worse than this.

I think she’s already gargled with it. Things are that poor at the club and have been for long enough that it just comes as no surprise anymore the way the team capitulate in the 2nd half of a season. Even in 2016 we had the best opportunity for a GF but blew it by capitulating.
For all the talk of on here the past few months that we were still 5th or still in the top six well we aren’t any more and once again unlikely to on the showings that the players and Coach have displayed. The alarm bells have been ringing for months and you could see it coming and true to form that’s the only thing as a club we are consistent in and that blowing a season way before the end and serving up pathetic displays.
There are so many things that are wrong and in truth I don’t know where to start but even after sleeping on it that performance last night was an epic one for all the wrong reasons and in some ways worse than the Leeds debacle.
There are clearly players out there that just could not give a and a coach in Hodgson that has not got a clue what to do and seems to think repeating the same things will eventually pay off. Playing Houghton for full 80 is again just crazy and shows BH learns or sees nothing, has Johnstone on the bench doesn’t spell Houghton with him just plays him at the same time so we have 3 hookers on the field at the same time that has no effect in the game other than makes us poorer. Lovodua looks unrecogniseable from the player we saw at the start of the season. BH bench selections and interchanges seem to be ones of indecision or pot luck as there is little or no logic to them and it hurts us just about every game.
What on earth is Purtills role and what does he actually do as since his arrival I fail to see anything of note he brought to the table.
I’m at the point of feeling totally at odds with a club and game I’ve loved for best part of my 50 years and debating whether or not I can stomach watching or paying anymore to see the same week after week or simply stay at home at the start of season put a pin in the fixture list of when another jam tomorrow season will again capitulate.
Sorry for the rant but last night is almost the last straw. I can’t honestly see the club getting more than 3 or 4k next season if BH is still here before the season ends and that’s very worrying

Holbrook is still at Gold Coast but I agree with all the rest of it.
I can't see Maguire or Brown wanting to come back and in any event may want too much. Tony Smith is an interesting one. He knows the city inside out was building something good at Rovers until the falling out and he likes to challenge himself. And boy he'll have a challenge if he coaches us.

| What have McGuire and Brown done in the NRL recently?
Madge has played a massive role in Wests being where they are. Same with Brown at the Warriors and Knights. I don't think they'd solve our problems.
I'm not Kevvie Walters biggest fan, but look at what he's done at the Broncos. Brisbane seem to have the pick of Qland when it comes to youth, but he's lifted them from wooden spoon to top 4 in 2/3 seasons. Promotion of youth plus smart recruitment (Reynolds and Capewell) has turned them around.
Similar with Todd Payten at the Cowboys too, everyone had them down to win the spoon.
Admittedly though, even my patience is starting to wear thin. God knows what Pearson thinks.
Ill still counter that the playing group, especially the senior boys are the bigger problem. For all this 'pride in the shirt' BS that gets spouted, when the going gets tough no one wants to know.

While I agree their recent NRL record isn't great there is also a gigantic gulf in class between NRL and SL, even a few simple plays brought over from the NRL would do the job in SL this year the standard is so low.
Fitness is also a massive issue, watching Storm -Rabittohs right now and pretty much every player looks ripped, you can't say the same about our squad or any other SL squad with the exception of Saints. Not being in peak fitness is inexcusable for a full time sport.

| My tuppence worth.
I want BH to do it for us, but I’m increasingly thinking, frustratingly, that he’s not the man. It’s so tiring doing 2 years with a new coach, they don’t have ‘their squad’, they get a few players in and let a few go, fail, rinse and repeat.
I do believe Brett has made some significant changes and I do believe he knows where the problems lie. Sneyd, Mahe, Shaul, Bowden all gone. Signing new, younger players and giving the youth of the club a chance. As he said in his post match presser yesterday, he understands we don’t have the mental strength and don’t like doing the tough stuff. But a certain degree of that has to come from the coach and his staff. There’s no doubt the players are letting him, and us, down, but I feel the players either don’t respect him or he fails to motivate them.
Where to go from here? Rinse and repeat??
