Ellis has been average to poor apart from a good kicking spell against Bradford, Horne been good this year.
Ellis is miles away from Hornes standard, that's not to say I see Horne taking us to the next level though, but to say Ellius is better than Horne is laughable.
And Manu is an excellent SL player, is[size=200 his worth the wages he wants? Not sure as we don't know how much money he wants[/size.'"
well if the media is correct he wants international standard wages. and for me he's not worth that....i dare say we could have the pick of second rowers in sl with the money he wants.. as for ellis, give the kid a chance, he's been in nl1 for a couple of years and is just finding his feet in sl..... he's by far and away the best place kicker we have a the club already.... paired with seymour he will flourish in my opinion..... as for having a good game against bradford, he did, your correct, his kicking game won us the match..im not saying horne and manu arent good players they are obviuosly, but its all about getting value for money and currently i dont beleive we are..take wigan for example, other than there imports and tomkins, who else will be on top money?? maybe hock and o'louglin, definatly not goulding, tusan, farrell, charnley, prescott, mcillorum, dudson, hansen etc etc and they made us look daft even when weve had a full strength team out in the past nevermind when weve got half of our starting 13 injured.....

The thing to really consider is how easily either could be replaced. I'd say it would be fairly straightforward to find someone to replace Turner (rumours are we already have) but nigh on impossible to find someone who could offer us what Whiting does.

I feel robbed by him, possible one of the most disappointing signings by Hull in the last few years.
I really hate to lose Whiting but can see what you are saying.

Your maybe right about Ellis and he might turn out to be a decent SL halfback, however if Horne is fit there is no way Ellis will and should be in front of him.
At Wigan, Richards, Carmont, Finch, Tommy L, Lima and Fielden will be on very good money.

Maybe, however Hutch was a project that didn't work, while Lauaki was a NRL regular and came with a good reputation.
Long and Gleeson were disappointments, but when they played they looked good and improved us, laukai didn't perform for Hull at all.

| The main thing for me wrt Turner & Whiting is the age difference, whilst not being huge (c. 4 yrs), it nevertheless gives Turner more time to improve, whereas I think Whiting is as good as he's going to get - which is as a utility player. Turner also has utility value in that he can play centre and second row, as well as stand off (although I'd rather he didn't). He has improved massively this season under a better coach and with confidence and the fact that Saints fans would be pleased with his signing indicates just what a loss he would be. I would rather us keep both Turner & Whiting, but would, if we are to lose one, prefer to keep Jordan Turner.
FWIW, I also hear that we have been reported to the RFL under anti-tampering regulations in relation to Joe Arundel, so if we have, you'd expect similar consequences for other teams who have/may have approached out of contract players (Manu/Turner).

I really don't see how you can reconcile this comment with your stance of not seeing Whiting as a priority retention. He is proving to be a very good backrower, has already proven to be of good SL standard at centre, wing, and fullback, has now covered prop as well, and can also do a job in the halves or at hooker in an emergency. Added to this he is also English so does not affect either of our overseas quotas, and still comfortably in his 20s.
Can you name 3 other players that satisfy all of the above conditions, and furthermore do you think they will likely earn more or less than Richard Whiting?

| If Hull didn't retain Whiting, I would not be happy. He is one smart player, no-one else would be able to fill his boots. Get his signature for the next 3 years at least.

| For me, Whiting is one of SL's most underrated players.
In every game he seems to make a vital play at a vital time, an intercept, a big hit, an offload - and that must be a huge boost to his team mates and can in itself change the momentum in games.
The way he's slotted into the 2nd row so easily and quickly is testament to how good a Rugby League player he is.

| I would give Turner a 3 year contract he is a young player that will get better by playing week in week out (ask yourself why are other Clubs after him )Whiting will be offered a contract as well Hull can not afford not to .Gentle will put his mark on the next team for 2013 season .Fans can see his input this season the way the team is playing I like the way the man goes about his business He doesn't make excuses he just get on with job his .

Been a favourite of ours for a long time. Bumped into his grand parents at a train station in Wales before the 2005 challenge cup final and the wife couldn't speak highly enough of him to them. Still her favourite player of the SL era.

| I like whiting and would keep him. He's a valuable member of the squad. I do think turner will go on to be a much better player though so would rather keep turner if it was a choice between the 2 (which I doubt it is anyway). turner is starting to show real promise. He's big, strong and quick. His accelleration at cas, when he rounded a winger who looked like a statue was sublime. None of our other 3/4's seem to have the pace to go the length of the field. Even his defence is showing considerable improvement.
I could really see him spending 2 or 3 more years in teh backs then moving into the 2nd row and developing into a manuesque player. Would be a big loss if he does leave (probably even bigger than manu in the general scheme of things given he's 10 years younger)
Anyone who thinks ellis is better than horne knows feck all about the game and certainly wasn't at huddersfield
