We know the club are going to get fined for their outburst regardless of what the refs report/review says. We also know that the result will not change regardless of the refs report/review. So to blast the referee in front of the media was a silly thing to do no matter which way you look at it.

I disagree. If everyone just sits around pretending that there isn't a problem then nothing will change, and Cummings is ruining the sport with his mismanagement of officials. We and every other club have been using the correct channels for years with no improvement or even indication that the powers-that-be recognise the problem. Maybe dragging this out into the open might get results, maybe not. It certainly can't make things worse and we can afford the fine.

None the less, NO coach has the right to slate a ref in public like that. How the hell are players supposed to show respect for the officials if they know that their coach has none? Undermines the whole game. ([isound familiar[/i?)

It's pretty evident that no one (players/fans/coaches) has any respect for James Childs irrespective of what is or isn't said in public.

They were doing it because they're under massive pressure. We've had worse nights than Friday in the last 3 years and kath has kept quiet.

I disagree I haven't seen a worse refereeing performance than that in the last 3 years.

I apologise I misunderstood your comment. Worse nights in what way ? Performance ? Why would Kath choose to comment on a night where the majority of fans were more impressed with the performance, the atmosphere was better and fans were already angry with the ref. Surely a night where no 'spin' was needed. Unless of course it's your argument that is the real 'spin in this case ?

Kath has allowed an appallingly inept Head Coach to continue to take the club backwards for three years and seemingly couldn't care less about it. I think it's pretty naive to think that she was 'representing the fans' with her comments the other night, Childs is no worse a referee than Agar is a coach.

Bit like the pot calling the kettle and all that,Kath berates the ref but backs the coach who has been poor to be fair.

Exactly my sentiments with regard to the club and Agar. Break the rules and niceties for the greater long term good. With regard to Child , Ganson et al , problem is there's no one to replace them with , perhaps another similarity.

The RFL have plenty to answer for here as well. It seems they made a decision to change the rules again , or at least their interpretation , and told everyone apart from the fans - again! When will they start to understand that fans have a huge stake in our game? In the same way that they felt there was no need for a statement on the Mason affair , they will make no public response to this controversy and will carry on regardless in true rfl arrogance.

The play off defeat against the dobbins was worse, 46 nil against wigan, take your pick of leeds defeats, being bummed by wakefield, hammered away at cas, losing at crusaders and salford. Plenty of other examples where where the situation was worse in the terms of one game but I just think that the overall situation is causing pressure which tipped them over on Friday

It's a fair point I just think that the level of anger towards the official from people attending on Friday was more or less unanimous and that was the main issue - the club officials were simply echoing that feeling. Child is hardly a stranger to controversy with his 'brand' of officiating across the game. His performance was disgraceful. In the other games you mention you might well take the view that Hull's performance was disgraceful and she should have lambasted the team/coach on each occasion but I doubt that will ever happen even if/when Agar is sacked during the week following a game. The focus on Friday was 100% the referee and the comments that followed reflected most people's opinion on that.

Exactly right Staffs FC, and isn't the focus of this thread about Referee Childs performance? I'm wondering if some of the people commenting on this thread actually went to the game? The crowd was in uproar and I find it entirely understandable that both Agar and Kath commented on said performance. As an aside, Kath is never going to criticise any team performance in public, and rightly so IMO.
We're all not happy how things have gone this season. But it would be nice to have the odd thread that wasn't hijacked by the rabid 'Agar Out' mob. You're ruining any debate on this board.

Wasn't just her that reacted though was it. The fans almost unanimously, Fitzgibbon and Matterson.

There is pressure at the club no doubt but the refereeing display was that bad to warrant the outbursts imo.

Respect is earned and not just handed out willy-nilly regardless. Child has none and for very obvious reasons.

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest under the same circumstances.
