although i agree that Agar is probably not the best coach in the world, i have been speaking to some close frinds of mine recently who have (in the last 5 years or so) worked with the hull board of directors and their views are that the club is simply run by a bunch of muppets. i'm not necessarily defending agar because i really don't like some of his choices, however, you have to consider the fact that maybe all of his choices are not his in the first place - they are dictated to him by the people who own the club.

i know alot of people will not like my post, but i'm not sure how many people share the same view that there are some serious issues 'behind the scenes' in hull fc that have resulted in some poor seasons for us

i often blame agar for poor results and strange decisions but every so often i remind myself that he might have kaths hand up his and may not always be 100% in control of the squad.

i have heard different stories on danny broughs exit and the one that i believe has nothing to do with the coach - moreso the owners of the club, whoever the feck they are.... and i feel that they don't care half as much as most of the supporters

i would just like to see hull fc cared about as much as gary cares about leeds..... and as for rich agar, he has drained any confidence i may have had for winning silverware and we are stuck with him, but i'm confused as to who i would boot out first given the choice - the directors or rich agar?!

Well if someone else is pulling the strings he should man up and walk out of the job. If he is allowing others to dictate to him then it just reinforces my belief he needs to be gone and the sooner the better.

While I'm not going to suggest that everything is rosy with our board, it does seem rather unlikely that 'a bunch of muppets' could produce the extremely successful commercial organisation that Hull FC have become during their tenure.

In their defence,Kermit seemed quite educated.

I'm not going, Friday night is my only free night this weekend so having some beers with my mates is a bit more appealing tbh.

Agree, if he was being dictated too,why not walk and make it public so the fans know exactly whats going on?

I've already paid too but i can probably think of better things to do with my time. If the players cant be bothered to be there and the coach cant prep them to be there i'm not sure i want to be there.

I won't be there. Agar has single handedly drained every last drop of enthusiasm and optimism from my body !!

I'm starting to feel that way, too. I have a season ticket, so I'll be there - but I'm not exactly looking forward to it.

Coming to think of it i might have to go to the game. Plan B would be staying in with the wife and a bottle of wine with a DVD. Not an option really.

I agree with that but it just makes it doubly confusing. Is it that we just lack that rugby nous at board level? Is it the board defending Agars recruitment and coaching howlers because they don't know any better or is it Agar backing his bosses despite their shortcomings in this area cos they pay his wages? Why do they have their view of Agar which is at odds with most supporters? It just seems bizarre that they get most things right off the field and are so far off the pace with anything to do with the things that matter most to the fans , performance and results. If it's some sort of conspiracy , what is it? It's just absolutely baffling and completely dispiriting. And completely ignored by the board, they just carry on regardless with no acknowledgement that we may be even a tad disappointed.

that's a fair point and i agree that we are fortunate in alot of areas that other SL clubs are not. i was a little apprehensive at first whether i should slate the board on this forum but when times are hard i guess you are left wondering what on earth the real problem is behind our club

I think the only fault our board seem to have is their inability/unwillingness to appoint a top class coach. In other areas they seem to be doing a pretty good job.

It is a fair point. Also on the playing side you had a very positive period in the middle of the decade and these things tend to be irregularly cyclical.

On the other hand, Hull's enviable growth and commercial success could be attributed [iin large part[/i to the building of the KC, which rather fell into the board's lap.
If Hull FC were still operating out of the Boulevard, I suspect there'd be two RL clubs in the city losing six-figure sums each year.

You really can't give credit where it's due, can you, what a pathetic jelous lot you Rovers fans are.

Even with the fortune of the stadium the Board have been very prudent. Other clubs (your included) would have probably spent beyond their means even if their means was greater.

You don't think that the KC has been a sizeable boost to Hull FC as a business?
Certainly I'm envious of the investment that was make into the KC stadium, as I think Hull KR would benefit massively from improved facilities.
While not jealous of your board, I admit they've played their cards well enough. I'm just saying it helps when you're dealt 4 aces.

Given that this is the Agar out thread and one criticism is that he was a cheap option, do you think they've been too prudent? The argument is always that a better coach would pay for himself with better performances feeding into higher revenue, but that is an unproven hypothesis. How much more loyalty have Hull's admirably loyal fans got in reserve? Would you risk running at a loss as business, in exchange for an improved chance of on-field success?

Choices are never that simple, i know, but this is only a hypothetical question on an internet forum.
