Have seen the lad play on a few occasions and have been impressed but with Agar singing his praises in tonights HDM it does take the shine off the signing a little. Lets hope JM can coach him to be the real deal.

5-9yrs = £23,715pa

For a 19 year old lad barely out of his apprenticeship and yet unproven at SL level to be offered somewhere in the region of 17k - 19k would be a generous offer.
If and when he does prove himself he should then get an improved offer, for all the alledged financial worries HKR are supposed to have I find it very difficult to believe that they would be so generous to offer him in excess of what he is worth at this moment in time and not what he 'could' be.
It's where he has gone to that rankles most on here, after all said and done he is only the 3rd choice hooker behind Berro and Houghton, does anyone know how good the kid playing hooker for the under 18s is?? he may prove to have even more potential than Hodgson, just a thought.

Precisely. It's harsh, but there's a line that needs to be drawn as to where players are worth keeping to see how they develop, and when they should be allowed to leave. Retaining every young kid on a decent wage left right and centre whilst also having enough top quality players in the team to challenge for honours is no longer possible with the salary cap.

That line should have been drawn much sooner in permanent pen.
