I have always liked Russell but the Warrington fans seem to see him as a liability. Much better at full back than on the wing, but despite Shaul's poor start to the season he isnt going to come straight in and take the starting FB spot. He could be a starter for any number of teams, so if he was being signed for FB cover/to put pressure on Shaul I'm not sure why he would want to warm the bench here. Not really sure where he would fit into the squad.

I thought the days of us signing 'unwanted players' was a thing of the past. Warrington strengthen massively with Charnley, and the guy that Warrington fans don't want in their side, rumoured to come to us!

We'll just have to see. It's a massive move for Russell as he'd have to move to the other side of the country so we would have to be making it worth his while, maybe Shaul is about to have some competition at last which if I'm perfectly honest, is no bad thing.

Didn't Shaul come off with a leg injury (as well as concussion) last friday?

Yes thats why i said earlier its likely we will see Connor back at full back on Friday if Kelly plays which i expect he will.
Sneyd/Kelly with Connor at full back is a better balance in my opinion.

For me whilst he was good for us in the short time we had him on loan he was in some ways better than we had at the time. In the current squad he is no better than what we already and would be a pointless and wasted signing.

Can't even see us needing to do it if Shaul is out for a period with Connor more than able to deputise there, unless Kelly is going to be out for longer than we all think.

We need to bring in players who will improve us, not squad fillers. Unless they will be challenging for the first choice 17 or are young with potential what's the point?
