| Quote ="WIZEB"Certainly don't think Radford is indispensable.
We need to mend up and get back amongst it come 2019.
Do I think he's capable of achieving that?
Yes, he's already proven that to an extent, and he needs to again.'"
A committed happy clapper here, accussed as such for not critiscing the club at every turn for the sake of it but even I get fed up. We’ve been dire for most of the season, and yes, injuries have caused most of the inconsistencies but teams have changed style radically this season, emulating Cas from last. We’re still playing “batter the opposition down the middle” but no longer have the players capable to carry it off. I left last night thinking “it’s going to be another long trophyless season 2019, because we’re going with the same squad and playing style”. Changes are needed but not sure Pearson can or will do it. Manu, Mini and Washy’s resinging is a big mistake, Washy was out of sentiment and giving him a testimonial which he deserves but he could have moved on and still be granted it from RFL. A change of coaching style and staff are required urgently, not Radford’s head as some want but definitely an experienced attacking coach but who’s available? Radford hinted on radio that he’s considering changes in playing staff and was critical of Manu for hunting instead of tackling but can contracts be changed once signed, we must be upto the cap again. The addition of Connor and Kelly last night wouldn’t have made a haypeth of difference IMO. So, I’ll ask all you experts and keyboard coaches, what seriously can be done?
I tried to post this 3 times but the site wouldn’t load it, porobably because of my sympathies.

Handbags. Both players should be cited for throwing punches....and missing. Both had more chance of getting pneumonia from the draft off the missed punches.

But retaliation is the worst offence so why did Wakey get the pen?

Not exactly how it happens. Fifita makes the yards again with players on his back and certainly not pushed back as suggested. Taylor stupidly probably in frustration not being able to dominate concedes a penalty by grappling with fifita head while he’s on his knees. Act of frustration in being dominated by an opposition forward it would seem. Things like that put your team under pressure no matter how long in the match is gone.
Link is on totalrl thread or sky sports for you Wilde so you can see for yourself.

There were no punches I could see. Grappling a players head on his knees defenceless and pulling is not a smart thing to do. It was handbags as a result of that foul. Not sure how you could get a pen for hull from that.

| It's hard to judge IMO.
Last couple of years we've had a stronger squad and very limited injuries.
This year the squad is weaker, we've had on average, at a guess, 6 first teamers out and when we've brought them back they are not fit. At a guess last night in addition to missing Connor, Kelly, Bowden, Mini, Hadley & Westerman I'd say Talanoa, Carlos, Griffin, Sneyd, Taylor and Manu are simply not fit. The consequence is putting the likes of Downs up against Fifita and Pauli Pauli - it won't end well.
If we get closer to full strength we do better, and let's face it our SL status is more secure than that of Leeds and we were very unlucky to go out of the cup.
The number 1 issue for me is the pack. Taylor is putting in ridiculous shifts but is simply carrying the forwards. The other props are either absent or less effective than they need to be at this level. It makes the release of Watts even more disappointing than it was at the time because regardless of bell-endery he is a quality forward in a pack already downgraded through the loss of Ellis and Pritchard. Manu was outstanding last year but hasn't been fit this, and Westerman's cameo was nice but he has off field previous so not that confident he will deliver in the medium term. Unless the current group remain fit for the whole season in 2019 and rediscover the team grit of the last 2 years we will struggle. We need a Casty and a BMM. But my guess is that we're contracted up to the cap and don't have the cash to pay contracts out so we go with what we've got unless there are clubs wanting swap deals, but I can't see it.
More positively I'm pretty happy with our 1-7, Kelly and Connor are so talented and great to watch, plus Carlos is great when fit and we have a double Lance Todd winner at 7. Behind a beaten pack though, they won't give of their best.

| I am not sure any pro sports man would go on to the field of play with the attitude of “cant be bothered”. To me there are two possible factors. Either the players are running on empty and are simply shot before the game has kicked off, or the players are simply not good enough.
Our halves last night were poor from a creative point of view. Sneyd was limping from 20 mins in . Abdul is not showing anything to suggest he can open up a defence. We had 5 sets last night which started on their 20 and we never looked like scoring.
Radford said on Humberside before the game that the fans could expect to see different structures. Well, that never happened and it was same predictable stuff. What make us win games over the last few years wAs to have the size and power to bully teams. We simply do not have the personnel for that now.
Sneyd is clearly not right yet after his injury. I’d play Harris and Miludi in these 6 post season dead end games we now have.
We give Bienek a debut but never once gave him a run at their smaller players.
For all Houghton is a tackling machine, his opposite number showed what an attack minded hooker can bring to a team.
As has been mentioned, a real worry is the resigning of Mini and Washbrook at the expense of a new signing. Both have served the club well, but both will end up being remembered as a knock on merchant and the other a penalty machine with little offered with ball in hand. We need a monster like Wakey have in Pauli Pauli.
I agree with Radford on one thing in his post match comments. The players will have to take some responsibility for this one. The on field decisions making in the second half defies understanding. When Wakey went down to 12 when the game was level, we run the ball from an easily kickable position. That would have pushed us in front with another 8.5 mins to press home the numerical advantage. We run it and (yet again) do not get over the line. 3 minuets later, we get a penalty in a much more difficult position, choose to go for goal (therefore wingding the clock down whilst Wakey 12men get a breather) and miss the kick! Clueless!
There needs to be some changes if we aren serious about a title challenge for next season. Otherwise the fans will simply not up passes to watch what is being served up.
Injuries have been a big factor of our season. It right now there is not much to suggest there I see anything to look forward to.

A good post, but you have got the penalty scenario completely wrong. We attempted a difficult kick and missed, but then on the following set we got a more kickable one and chose to run it. Then Shaul scored.

It was the penalty we were given for the incident which also included the yellow card. We ran that when two simply points were on offer.

I really think we should move Abdull on,get a small fee and let another coach see what they can get out of him because he will never progress at this club.
Harris although lightweight has a bit of pace and i agree we have nothing to lose now playing him with Sneyd.
Danny Houghton is playing on past performance only and is way off the pace.Jamie Shaul does more running from acting half and we need more than a tackling machine at 9.Yes give Litten a chance now at 9 and let Houghton know he has some competition as he has become complacent.
Miloudi i am not sure of.He is a disaster at full back under a high ball and cant tackle but when on the wing played quite well so maybe a wing replacement is where he will end up unless he signs up at Doncaster which is a possibility,
I still maintain Griffin is a very average centre.International class nowhere near.Put him up against anyone decent like last night and you see his limitations.
i was one of the first to say play him in the second row and i agree now should be the time to give him a run whilst Minichello is out.
We need some power and pace into this squad to even compete for top 8 next season and as i said its possible we will finish this season with 11 consecutive losses,a large downturn in fan interest for 2019 and a major fall in pass sales.
If we do go 0-11 wouldnt surprise me to see some players moved out whilst under contract and one or two surprise signings coming in.
Alternatively Pearson goes out to Australia and brings an Australian coach in.

I dont think there was a penalty for the yellow card incident. Play was dead because of the 40/20 and they tried to stop us tapping it. So it was a yellow for the professional foul but not a penalty. So the tap was just the tap from the 40/20.

Pearson will not stand still.
As i said in my post it may take releasing some overseas players from their final year contracts by agreement to allow us to strengthen from overseas but if we do go 0-11 a new Australian coach may be Pearsons first act as that would allow him some imput on new players.

Don't think Pearson will ditch Radford, he stuck by him in 2014/2015 when things weren't great and the fans were very vocal in wanting him out, after 2 Cup wins his stock has risen massively.
I think the club will have to bring in at least one signing to boost pass sales at least, but we have pulled off some good transfers over the last few years so I remain confident we can pull a surprise out of the bag. I also think its likely an SL team will be relegated this year, and that will trigger a lot of transfer moves, as that club releases everyone and say Toronto strengthen further meaning a lot of wheeling and dealing over Winter. As just one example Widnes have signed Gelling, he won't be coming for Championship rugby.

As you have posted with verve and countless times after another loss for Hull it would seem you are the one who is excited, seemingly gleeful at our current plight.
Incidentally the rider wears goggles, the horse has the blinkers.
As for refreshing the team, read my earlier posts on my opinions on retaining Mini & Sika, but regardless which route Hull take I will back them 100%,.
Do you actually support our club? As your contributions usually occur in abundance after defeats.

Justin because some one criticises it doesn’t meant they do not follow the club. Let’s not let threads get derailed with that type of nonsense please, we have had far too much of that on these forums of late.

Who is Justin?
Firstly I can accept constructive criticisms of our club, no problem, opinions entitled and all that, but as you have alluded to this particular thread, check back Danny Houghton, Abdul, Griffin, Mini Sikah, Miloudi Radders, on this thread alone are targeted by a certain poster, never a positive, as for derailment of this forum, I suggest you research earlier posts, I will defend our team wether you like it or not.

| I think you have to accept where you are with injuries etc.
Huddersfield were like that early season 10 players injured Brough suspended and tonked 66-4 at St Helens, beaten by 30 + by Hull KR at home 50 + away by Wigan.
Our few senior players were trying too hard and having to double up on effort to compensate for 17 year olds in the team who actually did very well and we were bottom of the league. Three imports that only have played 9 matches between them all season. Two haven’t managed one match.
But players back, a change in attitude by the new coach and a better settled team week in week out and look what happened.
It’s easy to get fed up when it’s like it is at the moment but trust me you have too many good players when they come back not to be a very good side.
Nothing to say you won’t end our good run on Friday, Saints were 8 point favourites on Friday but the day when you turn a 66 point loss into a 4pt win are the days you savour more than most and yours will come back....

| Quote ="fartown since 1961"I think you have to accept where you are with injuries etc.
Nothing to say you won’t end our good run on Friday, Saints were 8 point favourites on Friday but the day when you turn a 66 point loss into a 4pt win are the days you savour more than most and yours will come back....'"
As of our Chairman notes pre Wakey game, the difference between being a fan and a supporter, in any kind of weather.

Firstly I can accept constructive criticisms of our club, no problem, opinions entitled and all that, but as you have alluded to this particular thread, check back Danny Houghton, Abdul, Griffin, Mini Sikah, Miloudi Radders, on this thread alone are targeted by a certain poster, never a positive, as for derailment of this forum, I suggest you research earlier posts, I will defend our team wether you like it or not.'" as a member of the happy clapper club I think you are very welcome to join, be prepared for being jumped on when you try to stick up for fc esp Radford lol,

I’m in that club, have been all my life, born to it, as a Hull supporter my personal experiences over the last two years have been fantastic, wonderful memories, I can take a mediocre season on the chin especially with the well documented injuries we’ve been dealt this year, no organising halfback virtually all season, bla bla,
An owner who backs his staff to the hilt, a coach who does it his way, no flannel, but no knee jerk reaction from the die hards it’s sport, it’s unpredictable, we’ve had worse times a lot worse.
With a fully fit team, we are a match for anyone, anywhere, at present we’re in the Doldrums shall we jump ship and run, never say I.

AH, can classic “I’ll pick on a typo” type are you ? WETHER you like it or not, perhaps some deserve a bit of criticism. I would suggest it’s you that needs to do a bit of research before labelling some one a None fan.
As mentioned, to thread derailment. Just plain boring and far too prevalent on this forum of late.
